ALL STUDENTS HAVE SCHOOL ON AUG 19
Dear Edison family,
As we enter the second week of school, I want to thank you for the continued support and encouragement you've provided during this transition back to school. Our students are already showing great progress, settling into their routines, and embracing the learning environment with enthusiasm.
This week, we’re building on the foundations laid in the first week, and it’s wonderful to see the friendships forming and the excitement for new lessons growing. Our teachers are dedicated to fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere where every child can thrive.
In the words of Mr. Rogers, “When we treat children’s play as seriously as it deserves, we are helping them feel the joy that’s to be found in the creative spirit.” Let's continue to encourage our children to explore, learn, and grow with that creative spirit in mind.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in making this year a success. Together, we’re setting the stage for a fantastic school year ahead!
Arrival and Dismissal Times: School starts at 7:25 and pickup time is 3:30, please be on time. If your students will be having breakfast than please have them here by 7:00 am. Thank you,
Homework Reminder: I want to take this opportunity to encourage all parents to support their children with their homework. Your involvement in your child's education plays a crucial role in their academic success. By working together, we can ensure that our students are reaching their full potential.
Parental Involvement: Research consistently shows that students perform better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. I am proud to share that our school has seen a significant increase in parental engagement over the past year. Let's keep up this positive momentum as we work together to support our children's learning journey.
Summer School Update: I must inform you that there will not be summer school offered this year for attendance recovery. Therefore, it is imperative that your student attend school on time each and every day unless they are sick.
New school policy: Parents, we will not allow early pick up of students after 3pm, including Doctors appointments, etc...
Tardies: Tardies will start this Monday, any student that arrives after 7:35 will be considered tardy. Please know that excessive tardies could result in a meeting with campus administration.
Thank you,
Ruben Dominguez

Staff Bio
Pre-K Teacher: Rachel Raines
My name is Rachel Raines, and this is my 6th year teaching. I have taught first grade, third grade and now my new love Pre-K. I have been married to Chase for 24 years and we have 3 awesome kids. Hayley who is 23, Teagen who is 21 and Xavier who is 18. Xavier is a senior at Gainesville High School. Together we love watching football, the Dallas Stars and attending our church.
Kindergarten Teacher: Chaney Seydler
Hello everyone! My name is Mrs. Seydler. This will be my 7th year teaching, and I am so excited to be teaching in Kindergarten this year. My husband and I have two beautiful kids, and we live in Oklahoma. I grew up in Gainesville and am a GISD alumni. I love to sing, bake and take care of my chickens, dogs and children. Thank you for having me at Edison Elementary.
Kindergarten Teacher: Marjorie Koval
Hey there, lovely people! I'm Marjorie Koval, but you can call me Ms. Koval—or even Miss Snowball (that's what some of my little friends like to call me). This is my very first year teaching Kindergarten, and I couldn't be more excited! I owe it all to the amazing GYO Program that the district offers, which helped me land this dream job. But don’t let that “first year” fool you—I’ve been around the block with these littles. Just last year, I was an inclusion paraprofessional and even snagged the "Employee of the Year" award for the district—talk about a whirlwind! Now, when I'm not in the classroom making magic happen, you can bet I'm at home with my two wonderful boys, Oliver and Sonny. They are my whole world, my sunshine on a cloudy day, and the reason behind every smile. Our backyard is basically our playground—you'll find us grilling up something delicious or bouncing around on the trampoline until we're exhausted. And if we’re not there, we’re probably off the grid at some hidden gem of a restaurant you’ve never heard of. My heart beats for all things yummy and adventurous—whether it’s cooking or baking in the kitchen, diving into video games, or exploring new places. I’m also a big fan of Taco Bell bean burritos (seriously), and I adore the theater, Lord of the Rings, and Game of Thrones. So that’s a little about me :) now let’s make this year absolutely unforgettable together!

Gainesville ISD Wins 2024 TAEA District of Distinction Award!
Only the top 5.5 percent of districts in the state, including GISD, earned the honor this year.
The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) announced the 94 winners of the 2024 District of Distinction Award. Among the list of honorees is Gainesville ISD. The districts received the honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and build social emotional learning that connect learners to their community and beyond.
TAEA is the leading advocate for the visual arts in the state. The organization has previously honored outstanding TAEA members for work in their classrooms and districts. This is the fifth year that TAEA is honoring districts that meet rigorous criteria as evidenced from data.
For the 2024 award, over 1,200 districts were eligible to apply. Each district submitted documentation they met from the 14-point rubric over the 2023-2024 school year. Only 94 districts met the high standard and will receive the outstanding honor indicating they are in the top 5.5 percent in art education of districts in the state.
