A Message from Mr. Chesser
Hello Bear Families!
This week has seen some really cool things going on.
Check out today's new info, including some details about Meet the Teacher nights, MISD's survey for at home learning options, the US History student trip, our advisory character building program, and more. Our Girls Volleyball teams kicked off their season last night. Both gyms were packed with fans. While the results weren't ideal, it was great to see our student athletes competing and representing MJH with class, showing full effort, and having fun with it too. Great job girls.
Wednesday morning, I snuck out to football practice for a little bit. Your boys and our coaches are out there working hard and getting ready for the action in a little over a week. I saw our linebackers and secondary working on footwork and reads. They are being taught to play the Montgomery way. They looked focused, and it was amazing.
Yesterday, Ms. Heinrich and Ms. Petillo participated in the HEB Supermarket Sprint. The new HEB is coming soon, so they partnered with MISD schools and awarded 6 of our campuses a $500 sprint shopping spree at their Conroe store. MJH was one of those school, and we loaded up on supplies for our first teacher appreciation luncheon in a couple of weeks. Monday and Tuesday, you will get to meet those amazing teachers. Thanks to Ms. Serafine and Ms. Anderson from our PTO for showing up for support!
Today, the entire school suprised me for my birthday with a hallway line up IN ALL 4 HALLWAYS!!! While they tried to make today about me, I am going to make it about them. The excitement, kindness, and vocal outpour of every student was electric. I'll never be able to explain the level of joy it created, but know your kids contributed to a very full heart today. Thanks for sharing them with us every day!!!
Proud to serve Montgomery Junior High,
Tim Chesser
Principal

Survey - MISD At Home Learning Option
Montgomery ISD is exploring the interest level in an At-Home Learning Option to determine whether the District should pursue this opportunity for students and families.
We want your input. The survey will help us understand the level of interest and what would be most important to families, from academics and scheduling to athletics, extracurricular activities, and hands-on learning opportunities.
The survey is open to MISD families and community members, including those who live outside the MISD attendance boundaries.

Core Essentials Character Education Program
Beginning August 31, we are excited to launch our Core Essentials Character Education Curriculum schoolwide! Character education will be incorporated into our Advisory classes 2 Mondays a month.
Throughout the school year, students will explore 10 important character values that help us live out our school’s Big 3:
Treat Others Right
Make Smart Decisions
Maximize Your Potential
Character Starts With Us
Our goal is for these values to become more than words students hear during Advisory. We want them to become everyday habits and choices that shape how our students treat others, make decisions, and grow toward their full potential.
We look forward to partnering with our families throughout the year as we build character, strengthen our community, and help every student maximize their potential!

School Picture Day
Memory Mark has made a few adjustment to their picture order process. All pictures must be ordered using the QR code or link in the graphic above. They also have limited their services to fall sessions only. The traditional spring sessions are no longer an option.
A Note from Nurse Buckner about Medications
For the safety and privacy of our students and families, medications and supplies can only be checked in with a trained clinic staff member. If you have medication and/or supplies to be checked into the clinic for your student(s), the drop off times will be as followed:
8:15-10:30am and 12:05-1:15pm daily. Clinic staff is not available between 10:30 and 12:05.
Please note, appointments are highly encouraged to make sure clinic staff is readily available. Please contact Nurse Courtney Buckner directly by phone or email.
Please remember all medications must be brought by a parent/guardian and can not be expired.
Thank you!
Visit Our Administration by Appointment
The role of school administrator comes with many hats and responsibilities. Living on a schedule is the only effective measure that supports success in the daily operations of a school. We know that situations arise that require prioritization, while other situations may not. We believe that whether we are managing instruction, addressing student choices, organizing student/staff/or parent events, attending professional development, or partnering with parents, they are all important.
If you would like to meet with an MJH administrator when a school concern arises with your student, we definitely want to meet with you. The best way to accomplish this is through an appointment. Please email your child's Assistant Principal (contact info at the bottom of the newsletter) when this situation comes about, and we will be glad to get you on one of our schedules for that meeting. If the matter is urgent, you may contact the front office, and they will direct you to the AP secretary, Ms. Perales, to determine the best route to address your needs as quickly as possible. If you come to the school to see an administrator without an appointment, an administrator may not be available, and you will be asked to schedule an appointment at that time.
Cell Phone Policy Reminder
In 2025, Texas Legislature enacted HB1481 which prohibits students from using personal communication devices during the school day. Students are able to bring their cell phone to campus, but they are required to have it turned off and stored in their backpack. Personal cell phones, ear buds,, headphones, tablets, lap-top and gaming devices are all included in the "away for the day" policy. Use of these devices during the school day is a violation of the Student Code of Conduct and will be addressed accordingly.

Student IDs: Promoting School Safety
One of the most important research based factors that impacts school safety is wearing student, staff and visitor IDs. At MJH, we require all students to wear an ID on a lanyard, around their neck, visible between their collarbone and waist. Students who attempt to enter the building without an ID on will be asked to get theirs out and wear it. Those who forget them, or have lost them, will be issued a single day ID sticker for the cost of $1 that will be charged to their MySchoolBucks account. Students who acquire multiple single day ID stickers in a single grading quarter may receive disciplinary consequences and an Official ID bundle replacement for a cost of $5 (adjusted to align with our fellow JH). Lost IDs must be replaced immediately. Please help support your students meet this expectation through reminders, routines, and habits that promote wearing their ID.
Celebrations & Highlights
Stay Tuned...
Our STAR STUDENTS for August will be announced next week. We are excited about highlighting some of your amazing kids for outstanding character, achievement and improvement.
The Bears Award
This week, Mr. Kizer selected Ms. Jo Ladd, our MJH Spanish Teacher. He noted that she goes above and beyond for students and is the epitome of what it means to BE A BEAR! Hooray!, Ms. Ladd! I heard she is going to have Buddy accompany on her weekend journeys. I can't wait to see that.
