Principal's Corner

Dear Families,

It definitely feels like fall...especially in the building. The maintenance and facilities department is still working on our boiler. I am balancing between being optimistic about the part they are fabricating and realistic about potential of it not working. I believe that everyone is doing what they can given the situation. A big thanks to our teachers who keep persevering through the cold, as well as the students and families who are finding ways to keep the heart of BFPP as warm as ever. Our community is amazing! I'll keep you posted on any developments.

All the best,

Kate

Parent/Child Literacy Coaching

This small group of parents and kids meets weekly with Teacher Carrie Vining to coach parents alongside their 2nd or 3rd grade reader. We work together to systematically go through letters/sounds, a sequence of phonics rules, practicing sight words and leveled readers. Parents learn how to support their emerging reader at home with tactile/kinesthetic methods that come from Orton Gillingham. This class pairs well with families who already use All About Reading or are willing to use this curriculum at home on a regular basis. This class meets every Monday from 9:00-9:55am. Please contact Carrie Vining if you are interested in finding out more information.

Creative Connections for Adults

Here is the weekly ongoing schedule for our year long connection and creativity opportunities for adults:

One-Off Wednesday Events

*Please check bulletin board outside the kitchen for ongoing opportunities.

Come and Connect Cooking Demonstration with Teacher Kristy Tice and Parent Megan Renkart on Wednesday, November 15 from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

We love to cook, and we’d like to share our joy with you! Please join us next week as we make a couple of our favorite recipes: Butternut ginger soup with homemade parmesan crisps. This is for adults only because you matter too! The meal is provided, but donations are gratefully accepted to help Megan and Kristy with costs. We will demonstrate how to make the meal and we will enjoy it together. RSVP is required so that we know how much to buy and prepare. Please e-mail Kristy if you will be joining us.

*If you are a parent interested in offering a creative one-off or an ongoing creative connection group, please reach out to Erica or Sammy.
