Lincoln High School
October 23, 2026
Message from Corey
Good afternoon, Lincoln families,
It is our homecoming week and I’d like to start by extending a welcome back to all our Lincoln alumni. Lincoln has a strong history, and we are so proud of our alumni and the continued support we get. If you are connected to anyone who attended Lincoln, or any of our SPS schools, I encourage you to reach out to share some memories and updates and help them get connected to our local alumni associations. For our Lincoln alumni, please visit: https://lincolnhighlynx.org/.
I just got back from our Homecoming assembly, and it was so fun watching the performances from band, cheer and dance team, house competitions, highlighting all our fall sports, and the sprit and pride from all our students. The fashion show between our houses really captured our upcoming homecoming dance Met Gala. It is great to see the growing spirit and pride we have at our school. A special thanks to our Associated Student Body leaders for planning such a fun experience.
Homecoming is always a fun week of celebration and a chance for us to bring our entire community together. As a community, now is a good time show support for our PTSA fall fund drive: All-In for LHS. This is a critical fundraiser that provides the budget that provides support for tutoring, classrooms, performing arts, athletics, student programs, family support, and more. To reach our goal of $250,000, every gift matters, regardless of the amount. Learn more and donate at https://tinyurl.com/LynxFund.
We are anticipating a strong turnout tonight at the football game and tomorrow at the Homecoming dance. These are important school events that provide a safe and positive atmosphere for students. During a recent “Eichner News” that happens during mentorship I shared the importance of safe decision-making with the entire student body. If your student is planning on attending any of these events, please take some time to talk with them about responsible decision-making. Of importance is monitoring plans before and after these school events to make sure your student is not attending school functions under the influence. Thank you in advance for your support in maintaining safe school functions for our students.
Over the last month we had the opportunity to host Seattle City Councilmembers Bob Kettle and Dionne Foster at Lincoln to showcase the great work happening at Lincoln and across our district. One of the best parts of having special guests come to visit our school is to have a group of students bring them on a learning walk and share what they are most proud of at our school. I learn a lot from our students with every visitor. SPS has a strong partnership with the city of Seattle and it was great to host these visits. We have an additional City Councilmembers scheduled to visit in December.
As we transition into November we are quickly coming to the end of first quarter (November 5th). There are just two more walk to support Wednesday before the end of the quarter so you should be asking your student which classes they are prioritizing on those days for extra assistance. You can also remind your student about the additional supports available including BASH, teacher office hours, and our select Saturday Schools.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. As always, thank you for your support.
Best,
Corey

Important Announcements and Information
Costume Reminder
As we all prepare for Halloween, we want to remind our Lincoln community about our expectations for those who celebrate and may wish to dress up on Friday. Our students have placed high value in a safe and welcoming environment. Please be mindful of that with your costume selection. As a reminder, costumes cannot include masks, a fully painted face, or anything else that covers your entire face. Additionally, you cannot carry or include any type of weapon or weapon-like object.
More importantly, we want us all to be mindful of the religious, cultural, and ethnic differences within our community. When selecting costumes, remember that ethnic and cultural clothing might have religious or spiritual significance and should not be used if it is not within your own culture and belief structure. In our constant effort to create a community we all feel welcome it’s important to remember that cultural appropriation can perpetuate inaccurate stereotypes about people of color and can further create offensive, hostile, and uncomfortable conditions for our diverse communities. We want everyone to feel welcome at our school.
Thank you for your ongoing help in creating an inclusive and safe environment at Lincoln.
Geography Baby Box Project, Tuesday, October 27
Dear Lincoln High School Community,
For the second year in a row, we’re looking for parents of babies and toddlers to volunteer as guest judges for our AP Human Geography Baby Box Project on Tuesday, October 27 at Lincoln High School.
Last year’s event was a hit, and having little ones in the room made it even better. More than one student ended up entertaining a one-year-old while the parent listened to the pitch! We’re excited to do it again.
In this project, students explore how population, culture, and development shape the quality of life for families around the world. Inspired by Finland’s famous “Baby Box” program, students design their own baby box prototypes tailored to the cultural, demographic, and economic conditions of different countries. Their goal is to present creative, well-informed concepts that would help new parents, just like you, in other parts of the world.
Presentations will take place in our spacious school library, so there’s plenty of room to move around and get comfortable. Babies and toddlers are welcome and encouraged. Our students know they may be pitching over the sound of a few happy (or hungry) little ones! The library also has space for nursing, changing, or simply taking a break.
No preparation or background knowledge is required. Your role is simply to listen, ask questions if you’d like, and share your honest reactions as a parent. We need judges for all six class periods, and any amount of time helps. Come for one period or stay for several. We’ll gladly take whatever time you can give!
If you’re interested, please fill out this quick volunteer form so we can schedule you:
Don’t have a little one at home right now? Please pass this along to a friend, neighbor, or family member who does.
Thank you for helping our students connect classroom learning to real family experiences. Your perspective makes this project truly meaningful.
With gratitude,
The AP Human Geography Teachers
Michael, Maggie and Dan
Call for Student Artists: Memorial Stadium Art Wall Program
There's an incredible new public art opportunity for SPS high school students!
Memorial Stadium is commissioning six SPS students to design large-scale murals that will be professionally printed and semi-permanently installed at Memorial Stadium. The artwork will be HUGE and visible both within and outside of the stadium. The deadline to apply is 10/30/26.
Additional details of the project have been posted. For complete details, please see the the SPS website.
From Neighborcare Health Clinic at Lincoln
Hey Lynx families! Did you know that students can get health care at school? The Teen Health Center is a full-service medical and mental health clinic located at Lincoln and provides many of the services you’d receive from your family healthcare provider. Services include diagnosis and treatment of common injuries and illness, physical exams/sports physicals, vaccines, medication, mental health therapy, and more! The Teen Health Center collects and bills insurance, but insurance is not required to get care. Families will not be billed for costs not covered by insurance.
Before scheduling their first appointment, students must have a registration form completed by a parent/guardian and returned to the Health Center. Registration forms are available both at the Health Center and online (click here: Registration). Once registered, a short, one-page consent form must be completed each year to continue receiving services. For more information, you can visit the Teen Health Center page on the Lincoln website.
Vaccine Clinic November 17 Seattle Public Schools is partnering with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association (SVNA) to provide flu/covid vaccine clinics for the public. Lincoln will host on Saturday, Nov 7 from 9a-4p. The location will be the gym. Book an appointment here
Important information for registration:
All patients will need their own, separate appointment in the patient’s name, with their information. A family of four will need four appointments. If you are unable to register all patients within the same time block, please choose the closest available time block for the remaining patients. You may still come together at the same time.
You must have an accepted, verified insurance plan on file during registration, or you will need to pay out-of-pocket at the time of service. Due to the end of the Public Health Emergency, there is unfortunately no federal funding for uninsured patients at this time.
If you have questions, please reach out to the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association at info@seattlevna.com for assistance.
VNA is offering flu vaccines to anyone age four to adult; and COVID-19 vaccines to anyone age five to adult. Most insurance is accepted (We cannot accept Cigna, Tricare, or First Choice insurance this season).
Food Pantries at Lincoln for Students In-Need
Hello, Lynx Families. Did you know that hunger interferes with a student’s ability to focus, learn, complete schoolwork and build and strengthen social-emotional skills? Not all of our students can afford the extra expense of snacks. To alleviate student hunger, Lincoln will be restocking food pantries that select staff have in their spaces. We are requesting the following food donations:
Granola bars (no nuts, please)
Chips
Smart Food
Pirate’s Booty
Cup o Noodles
Microwavable Mac & Cheese
Fruit gummies
Beef sticks
Please deliver snack donations to the Main Office or send in with your student.

UW College Visit – October 28th
Attention Senior Families! The University of Washington (UW) will be visiting our school on October 28th during Mentorship to meet with interested seniors and share information about the college and its admissions process.
Please encourage your senior to sign up for the visit on SchooLinks if they are interested in attending. If your senior is planning to apply to UW, this is a meeting they won’t want to miss! It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the university, gain valuable insight into the application process, and hear directly from a UW representative.
Be sure to remind your senior to register on SchooLinks and take advantage of this exciting opportunity!
Our Senior Deadlines and Due Data will be published in January of 2027. Throughout the year we will publish any important senior information in this section of the newsletter.
Starting November: Early Action and Early Decision Deadlines for many 4=year schools (check individual schools you are applying to)
The Seattle Promise Application for the Class of 2027 is officially open!
One of the best parts about supporting young people is seeing what happens after a student takes that first step. A dream turns in to an application, which turns in to a first day on campus, a community of people cheering you on, a college degree, a transfer to a four-year university, and the start of a career.
That's why our message to seniors this year is simple: This could be you.
Last year, more than 2,500 seniors applied to Seattle Promise, and more than 1,000 students from the Class of 2026 will receive free tuition at Seattle Colleges this fall.
Athletics and Student Activities
Athletic Information
Lincoln High School encourages all students to explore and participate in our athletic program. All athletes need to have an updated sports’ physical, which is good for two years. If you need help finding a provider to get a physical, contact our Athletic Director, Ms. Ware, or our Teen Health Center.
For more information visit our LHS athletic page.
Athletic registration for Fall, Winter & Spring can be found at our registration page.
While teams may suggest a financial donation as part of our fundraising to cover the costs of gear, supplies and other expenses from families, these are suggested donation amounts and should not prevent student participation. Athletics are open to all students regardless of the ability to pay any suggested sports fee.
Please visit Metro League for game and schedule information.
Clubs, Activities & Events
Clubs and Activities are a great way for students to connect and get involved at school. Lincoln has over 90 active clubs and it is easy to start a new one. For more information and to see a list of some of our student clubs, please visit the link below. Students will have access to club lists, leaders, and locations once they arrive on campus in September, and will have opportunities to get connected.
There are a lot of ways students get can involved at Lincoln. Please click the links below for more information about fall athletics and clubs at Lincoln.

Track and Field and Full-Sized Athletic Field Updates
SPS has formed a new team (a new SPS Project Manager - Conrad Plyler) to lead both the full-size athletic field and Track and Field projects at Lower Woodland. This is great news!
Since the Seattle Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners gave the recommendation to begin the Environmental Impact for the full-size field and begin the process to renovate the track and field at Lower Woodland Field #7 in August, SPS publicized a request for proposals for an environmental land use consultant for both of these projects. These proposals were due on October 20th. Once the consultant has been hired additional updates, including proposed timelines, will be shared.
Please be watching for updates in the coming months. You can also view all the updates by visiting the Lincoln Track and Field information on the SPS website
