The Buzz
AUTUMN TERM - 4th DECEMBER 2025
Message from the Executive Headteacher
It was wonderful to see so many of you, our families at the Christmas fair on Saturday, it certainly was busy and I know Santa enjoyed seeing all the children who visited him. The many volunteers of HPPA and staff did a wonderful job and I would like to particularly thank Louise, Mark and Lucy for the many days of preparation that went into this event. The funds raised are going towards a new minibus for HPP as our current bus is no longer ULEZ compliant.
HPP welcomed Muneera Wilson MP last week, she answered questions posed by the school council and then she presented to the Key Stage 1 children during the assembly. This visit took place during UK Parliament week.
Children across the school have been out and about this week, Reception visited the local post box and Year 1 and Year 2 visited local churches to see a re-enactment of the Christmas story. Thanks to all the volunteers who have supported the staff with these visits.
The HPPA Festive Christmas shopping event took place today for all the children who were able to select two gifts to give to family/friends from the friendly elves. Thanks to all those who have made the contribution on classlist and to the wonderful Elves.
Next week Christmas really arrives at Hampton Infant School, there is a full week of shows for children and parents to enjoy. I would like to remind you that we are only able to accommodate two adults per child, please do not bring younger preschool children and any pushchairs that do come will need to be left outside due to the number of people in the hall. Please arrive promptly as the shows are not very long and we wouldn't want you to miss your child on stage.

The staff will be recording the dress rehearsals without the children who are not allowed to be in the recording online and this will be posted on the home support site. We have had a couple of comments from parents regarding the quality of this recording, I would like to remind parents that whilst we are outstanding educators we are not professionals in this field and don't have the equipment to do it justice. I know most parents are very grateful for the film provided and I thank the staff for their time and effort in this matter and for the show. During the performance next week, we will remind you not to record the show, you will be able to take photographs of your child before and after the performance.
I'm sure you will enjoy the performance and I look forward to seeing you there.
Have a wonderful weekend when it arrives.

Year 2
In English, we have been continuing with focus text Poles Apart. The children have stepped into the shoes of Peeky, Poots and Pog, writing postcards as though they were the penguins themselves on their unexpected adventure. They used a fantastic range of interesting adjectives to describe their journey in London. We have been so impressed with how confidently the children wrote in character and how creatively they described the landmarks they visited.
In maths, we have been developing our understanding of two-digit numbers through addition and subtraction. The children have been using dienes to build and exchange numbers. We have also tackled missing number problems using ten frames and other methods, which encouraged the children to think carefully about what they already know and what they need to find out.
Our DT project has been a delicious highlight of the half term! The children had the opportunity to make their own Christmas wraps, starting with taste-testing a selection of ingredients before deciding what they wanted to include in their final wrap. We learned how to chop safely using the bridge and claw methods, and everyone showed great care and concentration while preparing their ingredients. The children then independently assembled and folded their wraps but the absolute favourite moment, of course, was enjoying eating the wraps they had made.
2L and 2B had a wonderful morning visiting Hampton Library. The children explored the different sections, browsed a wide range of books and enjoyed talking about their favourite books. The librarians commented on how enthusiastic the children were. The adults enjoyed seeing the children excited about reading and discovering new stories. Some even left with ideas of books they would like to borrow in the future.
Year 2 also visited St Michael’s Church, where they took part in the Christmas Journey experience. This was a special opportunity for the children to immerse themselves into different scenes from the Christmas story. This experience helped the children visualise the story in a new and engaging way, and it was a meaningful and memorable visit for everyone.
Our Christmas show rehearsals are in full swing and the children are very excited to perform to their adults next week. Please continue to support your children with learning their lines so that they feel confident on show day.
We are incredibly proud of year 2 for their hard work and enthusiasm this half term. They have embraced every challenge and opportunity with a positive attitude!

Year 1 Brooklands Museum Visit
As part of our History topic of ‘Travel and Transport’, Year 1 will be visiting Brooklands Museum on Friday 8th May 2026.
We rely on parental contributions in order to be able to run the wide variety of visits and workshops that the pupils at HPP enjoy and the contribution we are requesting on this occasion, for each pupil, is £26.50. This includes coach hire, entrance fee, and the ‘Concorde Experience’. Whilst payment of this trip is voluntary, if we do not receive sufficient contributions, we will cancel the visit and a full refund will be made.
In order to support families with making this payment we are offering payment instalments. You can make payments, via Arbor, as frequently as you wish between now and Friday 27th February 2026. If you feel that you are unable to make this contribution and require support with this visit, please contact the school office to arrange a meeting to speak to Mrs Gale, Head of School.
Toilet use after school
If your child needs to use the toilet after school, they can use the toilets in RK, these are well known to the children. All children are given the opportunity to visit the toilet before leaving for the day so please speak to your child about this if this is happening frequently. Children and parents must not enter the school building to find toilets. There is a toilet at HJS in the Music room which children are able to use.
