Congratulations to Mimi Cannizzaro, Mayfair Middle/High School’s 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year! Mimi exemplifies the very best of Mayfair and is a truly deserving honoree. An exemplary educator and a positive, solution-oriented member of our Special Education team, Mrs. Cannizzaro cares deeply about every student on campus—whether they are currently in her class or not—welcoming them for tutoring, reacquainting herself with their current curriculum, and advocating tirelessly for their success. She teaches bell-to-bell with purpose, delivering challenging, thoughtfully modified lessons that prepare students for their next academic steps, while her compassionate and friendly approach creates a classroom where students feel supported and inspired. This year, she embraced the challenge of co-teaching with outstanding results, earning the respect of students and colleagues alike as she consistently checks for understanding and ensures students remain engaged and successful. Her specialized teaching strategies benefit all learners, her advocacy reflects her unwavering belief in students’ potential, and her positive energy elevates everyone around her. Reminders
Listed below are just a few important reminders (PLEASE READ):
- Mayfair Middle/High School does not permit any drop-offs or deliveries of food or other items. Please ensure that your student is prepared for the day when coming to school in the morning with their lunch, supplies, money, etc.
- Dress Code. For the 2025-2026 school year, we are trying to prepare our students for college and career ready with a dress code. Students will not be allowed to wear any inappropriate clothing which includes the following: No sheer, low cut, revealing blouses, bare midriff, or braless outfits, bathing suits, beach attire, tight or revealing, or strapless garments. Please be sure that your student follows the dress code and wears appropriate clothing and accessories. Also, students may not bring blankets to campus. Click here to access Mayfair's Dress Code Policy.
- No returning back to campus. If a student has an early release (7th or 8th period), once the student leaves campus, they may not return to campus during school hours. Parents - please ensure that your students are going home early if they have the early release. Note: Students who have a "home" period, must leave campus by the end of lunch, and are not allowed to remain unsupervised. Please review your students schedule so that you are aware when they will be leaving campus early (prior to 3:35).
School Policies
Bikes/skateboards/ scooters
Students will not be allowed to have bikes, scooters or skateboards on campus. There are designated lock areas on the north and south ends of campus for students to securely store them during the school day. Riding and even walking them through campus presents a safety concern. Students are expected to pick up their belongings at the designated areas, and exit campus. Students are also required to walk their Bike, scooter or skateboard until they are completely off campus, which includes walkways and parking lots. Our goal is to insure safety for all students, we appreciate your support in upholding these expectations at home.
Tardy Policy
Starting October 13, 2025, Mayfair will enforce a new tardy policy: any student who is tardy to three or more periods in a single week will be assigned a lunch detention the following week. Students must complete their detention to be removed from the no-go Minga list and regain the ability to attend special school events, which are considered privileges. Failure to serve a lunch detention will result in additional consequences.
Wellness Center
Mayfair Middle/High School’s Wellness Center is available for students who need a short break to recharge during the day. Students must first check into class at the start of the period and then have a pass or Minga pass from a teacher or counselor to visit. Wellness breaks are limited to 10–15 minutes, and cell phones must be put away while in the center. Please remember that all health-related issues should be directed to the Health Office. Students are allowed only one pass per day unless otherwise determined.
CTE Pathways
Dear BUSD families — We invite you to explore the CTE Course Videos page on the Bellflower Unified website, where you can preview the exciting Career Technical Education (CTE) classes that your high school student may be able to take. Some of these programs are available at Mayfair High School, while others are offered at Bellflower High School, giving students across the district a variety of options to match their interests. We encourage you to watch a few of the videos together, discuss which areas spark interest, and talk with your student about how these electives could help shape their future — and set them up for post-high school success.

The app enables staff to create hall passes, reward students for doing well and helping others, and the digital ID card will help students have an easier time entering or leaving campus. The digital ID has a "live" interface, with a running digital clock and a moving background, thus preventing students from using a screenshot [Screenshots of ID are not permitted]. Students will utilize their school email (via Google) to log in. The app is safe to use, uses very little data, and doesn't require access to any of the information stored on your phone. If your child does not have a smartphone, don't worry - they will receive a printed ID card as well. Click here to access a quick document that shows you how to log into your school's Minga account.
