Council Rock North Update
January 24, 2026
Important Information on Potential Weather Impacts
Should we be closed on Monday and/or Tuesday, they will be Flexible Instructional Days (FID). FIDs are implemented when school buildings need to close without causing disruption to the instructional calendar. When a FID is implemented, Council Rock will notify the community via email, phone, text, and social media.
Important Asynchronous FID Information:
Attendance will be taken using assignment submission. Teachers will post assignments through Canvas.
Teachers will post assignments by 9:00 AM on the morning of the asynchronous FID; completed assignments must be submitted by 8:00 PM on the following day.
Some teachers may assign work packets for students to complete; these assignments will be due when students return to class.
If you have a question about asynchronous FIDs, please reach out directly to your child's teacher(s). Teachers will be available throughout the school day via email to respond to questions and to assist with accessing assignments.
Midterms/Finals:
If we are closed or have a two hour delay on Monday, assessments scheduled for Monday will be given on Tuesday, January 27.
If we are closed on Monday and have a two-hour delay on Tuesday, students with scheduled midterms/finals during periods 04-09 will take them on Tuesday, January 27, while students scheduled during periods 01-03 will complete them on Wednesday, January 28. The two-hour delay bell schedule does not allow for the time necessary during periods 01-03 to complete the assessment.
If we are closed on Monday and Tuesday, the second marking period/first semester will be extended to Thursday, January 29. Students will complete their midterm/final on this day. The first day of the second semester/third marking period will be on Friday, January 30.
Half Day:
Students in grades K-12 are scheduled for a half day on January 28. We will be keeping this schedule no matter what occurs on Monday and/or Tuesday. High school students will be dismissed via the PA system after their period 03 class (Approx. 10:45).
Course Recommendations:
Should we have one FID, teacher course recommendations will be due at 2:55 PM on Wednesday, January 28.
Should we have two FIDs, teacher course recommendations will be due at 2:55 PM on Thursday, January 29.
Extracurricular Activities:
If the building is closed, after school and extracurricular activities are also cancelled. Coaches and advisors will communicate with families on the rescheduling of these events.

They were recognized for their winning design prototype, the “Safe Schools Phone Pouch,” which they successfully designed, built, and pitched to judges within just a few hours. Great job and thank you Mrs. Gould for advising.
Speech and Debate
At La Salle Forum Invitational, hosted at La Salle High School, our team placed in the top 3 in Informative Speech as well as Original Oratory, and 1st place in Public Forum, earning competitors Alyce Zhang, Vaanathi Venkat, and Aislinn Leach bids to the Tournament of Champions (TOC). This was followed by Sunvite, where Student Congress competitors Laukik Gullapalli and Aurav Johri both broke into the semifinals pool, earning them each a bid to the TOC.
At The Ridge Debates in New Jersey, Council Rock North competitors were seeded 1/78 in Public Forum and 1/62 in Lincoln Douglas, marking a standout individual performance at this prestigious tournament, going unbeaten in preliminary rounds and taking the highest speaker points across the board.
Phillips' Mill Youth Art Exhibition
The Art Department is pleased to announce that sophomore Alyce Zhang earned second place in the painting category at the Phillips’ Mill Youth Art Exhibition. The exhibition showcases artwork by students from area high schools and is now in its 13th year. This respected youth art program provides young artists with the opportunity to exhibit their work in the historic Phillips’ Mill gallery and to be recognized for their artistic achievements. Council Rock North proudly submitted six students for this honor, making Alyce’s accomplishment especially exciting for our school community.
