Permenter Longhorn Check In

Can you believe this week will be the 3rd week of the school year and the halfway point for the first grading cycle? Please be sure to check Skyward frequently to monitor your scholar's grades and academic progress. The first grading cycle will end September 21st and we want to be sure all of our scholars are showing positive academic performance.

This week all scholars will be taking the NWEA Map test Monday - Thursday. We will have makeup testing available this Friday. It is imperative that all scholars bring their charged Chromebooks with them daily because this is an online test. We need all scholars present, on time, focused and committed to their personal scholastic achievement. This test is given three times during the school year and measures scholars' strengths and weaknesses and where each scholar stands academically. This will help teachers understand how to effectively approach each specific student and ensure their progress.

• All CHISD schools will be closed Monday, September 4th in observance of Labor Day.
• If your scholar started the school year with an unnatural hair color (blue, pink, bright red, orange, etc.) they have until October 5th to correct it and get the color within CHISD dress code.
• Girls' volleyball tryouts are happening this week. Candidates must have all paperwork submitted to tryout and attend each day. For more information, please contact either Coach Dieckmann or Coach Landry.
• Families are financially responsible for lost or damaged Chromebooks. Insurance is available and worth the investment. Click here to learn more information and sign up for insurance for your scholar's Chromebook.

Parties wishing to contact an administrator regarding a specific teacher or student are encouraged to resolve the matter by following the steps below:

Step One: Contact the teacher and have a meeting/phone conference

Step Two: Contact the appropriate assistant principal: Mr. Linthecum (all of 6th Grade and 7th Grade last name M-Z) or Mrs. Dawn (all of 8th Grade and 7th Grade last name A-L) or Grade Level Counselor (schedule/grades/mental health/academic advisement)

Step Three: Contact the Building Principal (if a school-wide concern, this becomes step one)

Need to know your scholar's STAAR Scores? Use the following steps to see them.

• Sign into Skyward

• View to banner on the left side of the screen

• Click on Portfolio

• Click on TSDS ID link

• 10 digit code will be provided

• Go to Texas Assessment.gov

• https://www.texasassessment.gov

• Scroll down to Information and Support

• Click on “How do I look up my access code”?

• Type in the 10 digit TSDS ID number as well as the other required information about the scholar and push search

• An access code will be generated, click log in

• Type in the required information and proceed with reviewing your scholar’s scores

Parents are not allowed to bring their scholars lunch to secondary campuses in CHISD including Permenter Middle School. No deliveries of any kind will be accepted: Uber Eats, Door Dash, family members, etc. Additionally, scholars may not have guests for lunch.
