Mrs. Yungeberg's classes are preparing for their study of Macbeth.

On Tuesday the seniors will be acting out scenes from the play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare. Each group chose a scene to represent their ideas on why the character of Macbeth chose murder to get the crown of Scotland.

It was a very busy and exciting week in the ag department!

Wednesday Agriscience and Welding One and Two students traveled to Marysville to tour Landoll.

Our tour started in the conference center learning about Mr. Don Landoll’s background and watching a video about the production of trailers before going through the shops to see production in real time.

A Letter from Mr. Savage

What a great fall we have had here at Valley Heights! Our fall athletic programs had an outstanding year with a trip to State Volleyball and the Sectional game in football! Our coaches and athletes are to be commended for their hard work and dedication during the past season and we look forward too many more successes this school year! We would like to thank the Valley Heights community for supporting our programs in a positive manner!

TVL All-League 11-Man Football team honors were announced this week and we have several players who made the list. First team offense included Drake Slifer, Tyrel Wagner, Karson Spoonts and Jayden DeWalt. Second team offense honors were earned by Kaison Bigham and Spencer Lees. First team defense selections were Tyrel Wagner, Drake Slifer, Karson Spoonts and Kaison Bigham. On the second team defensive squad were Royce Ekstrum and Gavin Crowder. Congratulations!

Our students were busy this past weekend with not only football but with three separate play performances. On Saturday and Sunday, the cast and crew performed “Yearbook Reflections” and I can honestly say that this was one of my favorite shows! The students did a fantastic job with their lines and musical numbers and the audience was entertained throughout the entire performance. Congratulations are in order for our actors and also our Director – Mrs. Lynette Steel-Coon and our Musical Director – Mrs. Kim Oatney! Job well done thespians!!

Our local Rotary club members were our guests on November 16th for their monthly meeting and meal. This month their hosts were members of our FFA Chapter who shared their experiences at the FFA National Convention held in October. FFA Chapter members and Ms. Carrie Husband then treated the Rotary members to a lunch consisting of grilled burgers, beans and chips!

With the end of the fall sports season it is inevitable that winter sports are just around the corner. The junior high basketball teams are already into the competition side of things and high school basketball got started this week! Right now, we have 24 boys and 23 girls out for the sport. Our first game will be a home contest on December 1st when we host Riley County. Plan on coming out and cheering on our Mustangs!

As I write my article this week we have less than 4 full class days until Thanksgiving Break and when we return we have 17 full days until Christmas Break and the end of first semester. As you are very much aware December is a month full of Christmas programs, church activities, family activities and school activities. As a result, it becomes very easy for our students to lose focus on finishing 2023 on a strong note academically. Let’s work together so that we can make the end of first semester a good one for all of our students!

Have a great week!

Mr. Savage
