Sunnyvale ISD E-News

Former superintendent Doug Williams was honored with the Golden Deeds Award by TASA and the Texas A&M University Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource (EAHR) Development at the 2025 TASA Midwinter Conference on January 27 in Austin.

A select group of Texans receive the Golden Deeds Award, a coveted award for distinguished service to education in the state. Annually, the award is given to an individual from any profession who has, through actions and deeds, improved the educational system in Texas to enrich the lives of all Texas public school students. Recipients are chosen by a committee of school leaders from across Texas.

We are so proud that Mr. Williams is a Raider!

January is School Board Recognition Month and SISD is celebrating its trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students. With the theme, Leadership for Tomorrow’s Texas, SISD honors the essential role school board members play in guiding the future of education.

The month-long observance is an opportunity for members of our community to strengthen their understanding of the crucial role school boards play in uplifting public education and representing our residents.

Dan Troxell, executive director of the Texas Association of School Boards, applauded the efforts of volunteer trustees in providing leadership and good governance so that school districts can focus on educating the 5.5 million public schoolchildren in their care.

"We are fortunate to have seven outstanding leaders who work tirelessly for the children of Sunnyvale," Superintendent Matt Kimball said. "Their voluntary commitment to school governance and to the betterment of Sunnyvale ISD is unwavering and we are grateful for their service."

School board members are the state's largest group of locally elected officials.

SISD's School Board Trustees are:

Brad Cravens, President

Linda Gooch, Vice President

Michael Threet, Secretary

Ben Wright

Dr. Pollye Hunter, PT, DPT

Kelleyton Wilson, Sr.

Lee Mathew, RN, MSN, MBA, NEA-BC
