Message From the Principal
Dear Wildwood Families,
This has been an interesting week. It started off with a skunk running around the back patio area on Monday until it was finally trapped and removed. The area was a little stinky for a bit! Then the crazy rain yesterday, on, off, on, off - it makes coordinating recess and lunch challenging. Students were inside…then outside, then inside. We love the sunshine today.
Today someone backed into the gate from the street on the lower playground by accident. It was a little tricky to communicate with the man and when he didn’t leave right away, we asked the Piedmont police to swing by and help him out. They came right away to assist. Pete Palmer, head of PUSD facilities, also came right over and repaired the gate, so all is well. I think the students were more interested in the police being nearby vs. the man and his car. Just wanted to let you know in case your kids mention it. Never a dull moment at Wildwood!
I had a chance to visit the 5th grade classrooms this week to have class meetings. It was nice to spend some time with the classes. A few things have bubbled up lately, so we talked about school-appropriate language, letting an adult know when they hear of something that doesn’t feel right, and also not gossiping. I’m hoping they hear the various messages and support our school community.
Don’t forget to stop by the Lost & Found, or encourage your child to do so. Clothes are gathering and we can’t store everything. It helps if you put your child’s name on the inside in permanent marker, too. Everything will go right before break!
And finally, have a great spring break. Be safe, and I hope it’s relaxing for everyone!
Thanks for all you do.
Beth Rhine
