Superintendent's Letter

Dear Staff, Parents, Students, and Community Members,

I am writing to provide a few updates and to let you know we are seeking a parent representative for the Hanover Street School Principal Search Committee.

School District Budget, Warrant Articles, and Board Members

Last week, Lebanon residents approved the school budget, collective bargaining agreements for the Lebanon Administrators' Group, School District Administrative Assistants Association, Lebanon Support Staff, and several other warrant articles.

I would like to welcome and congratulate new School Board members Kevin Schutz, Tia Winter, Jessica Saturley-Hall, and Wendy Hall who is continuing on the Board.

Thank you to all community residents who came out to vote!

Mount Lebanon Elementary School and Lebanon High School and Hanover Street School Renovation Updates

The MLS renovation project is on schedule. It is exciting to see the renovated school nurse's space. The flooring is being put down in the new kitchen area and the windows bring in a lot of natural light. The expansion of the multipurpose room will be such a welcome addition!

The HSS/LHS renovation project will begin this spring. Construction will be taking place in multiple places around the entire campus which will impact traffic flow for drop-off and pick-up. We are working with the construction management team to be as proactive as possible and will let you know about any changes in advance.

We are grateful for the patience of our staff members, students, parents, and neighbors. We are doing our best to limit the impact of the renovation projects. Seeking a Parent Representative for the Hanover Street School Principal Search

Mr. Finley has accepted the position of Co-Superintendent for SAU #53. Congratulations, Mr. Finley!

We are seeking a parent representative to serve on the HSS Principal Search Committee. Search committee members must be available for one full day during the work week for interviews. Interviews will be held the week of April 3rd.

If you are interested, please write an email describing why you would like to serve on the search committee and send it to me, joroberts@sau88.net, and Dianne Estes, Director of School and Community Relations, destes@sau88.net, by Friday, March 31st at 4:00 pm.

Week of the Young Child Birth through Age Five April 1st-7th

The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Did you know that the first years of a child’s life are the period of the most rapid brain development and lay the foundation for all future learning?

High-quality early care and education can help improve the effects of poverty, detect and remediate delays, and identify and help prevent child neglect.

Every child deserves equal access to a high-quality educational foundation that will prepare them to grow, learn and succeed in life.

Lebanon and Hanover will be displaying banners celebrating early childhood educators. Store windows will have posters and there will be road signs throughout the Upper Valley to celebrate the Week of the Young Child.

In closing, it is wonderful to have additional hours of daylight and the knowledge that warmer weather will be heading our way. I am so proud of the innovation and dedication of our talented staff members and the amazing students that we have the privilege to work with every day.
