What is FlipGrid
Flipgrid is an easy-to-use social learning, video making website that allows educators and students to make video clips. A teacher can create a grid or a series of grids that asks students to discuss topics or questions. The teacher can set the requirements of the responses to the subject, which could include time limits, attachments, video, pictures, and several other settings.
The students log into the website, go to the assigned grid to watch the video, and then respond to the posting with their video. The responses can be a video of the student speaking or using text. The reactions can include video, text, stickers, emojis, drawings, or a custom created sticker.
Why Should Teachers Use FlipGrid
Since students are given the space and time to respond when they're ready, it makes educational engagement possible for even more anxious students who might ordinarily feel left out in class.
Because of its flexibility, Flipgrid gives students options around how they want to demonstrate learning, which can lead to more effective assessment and student engagement. And all of the accessibility features allow every student a voice.
- The ability to add rich media encourages students to be creative and, potentially more importantly, expressive. By adding emoji, text, and stickers, students can engage with class content as they might interact with friends using social media platforms.
- This aspect can help students feel less apprehensive and more empowered to express what they've learned openly, engaging more deeply with the task. Ultimately, that should result in deeper learning and better content recall.
