Dear Rose City Park Families,

As PPS continues the rightsizing process, I strongly encourage our RCP families to stay informed and engaged as new information is shared. This process may shape the future of school communities across the district, and staying connected to district updates, engagement opportunities, and School Board conversations is an important way for our community to understand what is happening and make sure our voices are heard.

One way to stay connected is by attending or watching a PPS Board of Education meeting. Board meetings are an important opportunity to hear district updates, learn what information is being shared with Board Directors, and better understand how the rightsizing process is progressing. The next PPS Board of Education Meeting is on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Dr. Prophet Education Center. Families can attend the meeting in person or watch online. You can also review the meeting agenda and materials ahead of time.

Another way our RCP community can stay engaged is through the Village Table, PPS’s new districtwide Site Council. Our Site Council chairs, Olivia Webster and Britt Appleton, represent RCP at the Village Table, which brings families and district leaders together to strengthen family voice and help shape district decisions and engagement.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. Your responses will help our representatives bring our community’s perspectives, questions, and experiences to the Village Table and ensure that RCP’s voice is represented in the districtwide conversation.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our RCP Site Council members for the time, thoughtfulness, and care they dedicate to our school. Their partnership and commitment help ensure that the voices and perspectives of our students, families, and community are part of important conversations and decisions.

For more important school news and information, please read below.

Yours in learning,

Principal Orbase

Building Strong Routines Together!

Getting kids out the door every morning isn't easy, but strong routines make all the difference! This month, I’m thrilled to recognize a few students who earned special recognition for showing remarkable attendance growth from last year to this year.

A huge thank you to our parents and guardians—behind every attendance milestone is a family working hard behind the scenes! Showing up regularly keeps students grounded and confident, while missing just two days a month can affect reading skills and friendships.

For practical tips on building smooth morning habits, check out this quick guide:

👉 Attendance Works: Parent Tips for Elementary Success

If mornings are a struggle or your child feels anxious about coming to school, my door is always open. We are in this together, and I'm here to support you!

OBOB is officially beginning at RCP! I have shared the 2026-27 book list and program outline to all our 3rd-5th grade students. I am excited to have two amazing parent volunteers help coordinate with me, Annie Hopman and Samantha Abbott. Please ask your 3rd-5th grader if they are interested in participating, and return the permission slip and team list to their classroom teacher or myself. We will assist in team formation and get a parent coach meeting scheduled soon! If you are able to support this program with books for our library, here is our on Amazon and Powell’s! I am looking forward to a fun and engaging OBOB Season!
