Mrs. Bruce

This upcoming week, students will take their unit one Benchmark Advance assessment. Following that, we will begin unit two, “Characters at Crossroads”. Our essential question will be, “How can people inspire and change us?”. We will begin writing by analyzing a (mentor) argumentative essay, which will be a model for students, as soon they will be writing their own argumentative essays. In addition, students will practice drawing inferences about characters, describe character’s responses to the plot events, and use details to provide a summary of a text.

Mrs. Bruce's homeroom will have PE for specials!

Math Math

Mrs. Suppi

We will continue our first math unit focused on statistics and data. Students will collect, organize, and interpret data using a variety of graphs and displays while learning how to analyze information and draw meaningful conclusions. Throughout the year, we'll continue to build strong problem-solving skills, embrace productive struggle, and recognize that mistakes are an important part of learning. We are also collecting some data of our own based on student chosen topics and choices. Each rotation got to select what topic and items based on that topic they wanted to add to our lists. It will be fun to graph and interpret our data within the next few weeks.

Science/Social Studies Science/Social Studies

Mr. Bodily

We are making our way into science this week! We are jumping into life science, ecosystems, and food webs. We will be using this science unit to also practice our informational essay writing skills.

You can expect our 2nd social studies test back next week! We have finished up the test on Thursday and Friday and I will be able to grade them and get them back by next week!

We will have PE for specials!

Message from Mr. Halley

Mr. Halley would like to invite you to join the choir at Cherokee Trail Elementary. The choir program here at CTE is booming and last year it had over 80 members! All choir students get a choir shirt, the opportunity to perform the national anthem before a Colorado Rockies game-they get to be on the field at Coors Field for this! We also have two big concerts in the CTE gym for friends and family in the winter and spring semester.

The choir is open for students in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade and meets in the morning from 7:40-8:15 Tuesdays and Thursdays. You only need to attend one day a week but you can attend both if possible. You can find the dates for the rehearsals and performances for our winter semester HERE

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Halley ghalley@dcsdk12.org and thank you for supporting the arts here at Cherokee Trail Elementary.
