Welcome to the August Edition of the SOESC Connection!
A New School Year Begins! 🍎
There is something special about the start of a new school year. After a summer of planning, preparing, and hopefully finding a little time to recharge, it is exciting to see our schools and communities come back to life.
As we begin another year at Southern Ohio ESC, we are excited for all that is ahead. A new school year brings new opportunities, new challenges, and plenty of moments that remind us why the work we do matters. We are proud to work alongside educators, schools, and communities throughout our region, supporting the people who make a difference for students every day.
Whether working directly with educators and students, providing professional learning and resources, supporting our districts behind the scenes, or helping keep SOESC moving forward, every member of our team plays an important part in what we do. We are grateful for the dedication, collaboration, and care our staff brings to their work each day.
As we step into the 2026–2027 school year, we look forward to learning, growing, celebrating successes, and making a difference together.

🏆 July MVP of the Month 🏆
We are excited to celebrate Summer Barnhart as our July MVP of the Month! 🎉
Summer’s nomination recognized her creativity and the thought she puts into creating meaningful learning experiences for students. She has a special talent for taking what she has on hand and turning it into fun, engaging activities that encourage students to use their own imagination and creativity.
She also puts a great deal of care into making sure students have access to well-rounded opportunities. Last year, Summer secured a grant for SOLC Family Engagement Events, and she is always looking for creative ways to use and reuse materials to make activities both fun and impactful.
Summer is also mentioned as a wonderful co-worker by her nominators. She is a team player, thoughtful about those around her, and always contributes to creating a positive and cohesive work environment. We appreciate the creativity, thoughtfulness, and teamwork Summer brings to SOESC and the Southern Ohio Learning Center!
