A Message from Dr. Nadjarian
Dear Families,
I want to share a heartwarming story with you. Earlier this week, one of our teachers approached me with a sparkle in her eye and said, “you will never believe what this student got on his math exam!”
For some context, this student has been struggling in mathematics. Over the past few months, he has been working closely with his teacher and our student support specialist, showing determination and a willingness to improve his understanding. On his most recent math exam, he earned his strongest score of the year, a moment of pride not only for him, but for the entire team supporting him.
Stories like this are a reminder of what is possible when students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged. Our teachers begin their days early and stay late, dedicating their time and talents to helping every child succeed. Their commitment, combined with our students’ perseverance, leads to moments like this that make our work here at St. Mary’s School so meaningful.
As you all know, the “A” in S.T.A.R.S. stands for Academic Excellence! Academic Excellence is a core S.T.A.R.S. value, and something that we wanted to become foundational for our entire village. It means that from infants through Grade 8 we are intentionally building strong foundations in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, theology, and the arts while nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
Starting next year, we will be opening a Student Support Center that will include a full-time student support specialist working closely with students across all subject areas. This expanded support will help us continue to meet students where they are and ensure every child has the tools and guidance to help them succeed.
I hope you have a restful and wonderful February Break!

If there are any extenuating circumstances regarding your family's decision to re-enroll, please make us aware as soon as you are able. If you are in need of financial assistance, please reach out to Dr. Nadjarian (cnadjarian@stmarys-brookline.org) and Ms. Gloria Reyes (greyes@stmarys-brookline.org) to schedule a meeting.
If you have already informed us that your family will not be re-enrolling, we ask that you still log into the FACTS/SIS Family Portal and select the "Will Not Re-enroll" option.

Grade 2 Visitors
Grade 2 had some extra special visitors this week! Francesco’s parents, Carmen and Carmelo, came in to teach the class all about cells! Students were able to use a real microscope to look at cells on slides and identify the parts they learned about such as the nucleus and cell membrane. Grade 2 learned that each part of the cell works together to help it function like a small city and that cells forms tissue which forms organs that help every living thing grow and thrive! Students also had an opportunity to practice using a pipette by transferring water between containers. This fun, hands-on day inspired our students to consider a career in the sciences and always ask questions! Thank you so much to the Nucera Family for your wonderful visit!
Mardi Gras Breakfast for Lunch
We had so much fun having breakfast for lunch in honor of Mardi Gras! It was a joyful day; the students' eyes lit up when they walked into the decorated cafeteria, and they were thrilled to enjoy pancakes and oranges! Many classes also learned a little about the history of Mardi Gras, which is officially celebrated next Tuesday.
Thank you so much to the staff and parent volunteers who made the day special for our students. From washing and cutting oranges, serving and warming pancakes, and pouring syrup, to decorating and helping with cleanup, your teamwork and generosity gave all students such a fun and festive lunch!
