CMS Incoming 6th Grade Information
March 23, 2025 Update
Message from Principal Scharmann
📢 Welcome, Future 6th Grade Families! 📢
Dear Students and Families,
It’s been about a month since I last reached out; and with spring now in full bloom, we’re getting even closer to an exciting milestone at Christensen Middle School, welcoming our incoming 6th-grade class!
As your child prepares to enter 6th grade, please know that our staff is fully committed to providing a nurturing and enriching environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. At CMS, we believe in fostering a culture of respect, responsibility, safety, and kindness. We celebrate and support the unique talents and abilities of every student.
As we look ahead to the start of the 2025–2026 school year, you can continue to expect open communication, collaboration, and meaningful opportunities to connect with us. One important upcoming reminder: the deadline to select courses for 6th grade is Friday, March 28th. Be sure to submit your selections by then so we can begin building schedules for the fall.
I encourage you to stay connected with us through our newsletters and website, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns along the way.
I look forward to continuing to get to know each of you and working together to ensure your student feels confident and ready to begin their middle school journey.
Best wishes,
Brian Scharmann
Principal, Christensen Middle School
Message from the CMS PTA
Christensen PTA
Welcome incoming 6th grade families! We are thrilled you'll be joining us at CMS in the Fall! While our PTA Board is very active, supporting the staff and students at CMS, our involvement looks very different from the PTA you might be familiar with at the elementary level. Since we aren't in classrooms, or even on campus very often, our primary focus is raising money. The funds we raise are allocated to school programs used by teachers, teacher grants, to fund the honor roll frozen treats (3x/school year), the all-school end of the year treat, as well as anything else that helps offset school costs throughout the year. Occasionally, we need parent volunteers as well. Our CMS PTA is only as strong as its board and members, so please consider becoming a part of our community.
Have you served on your elementary school PTA board? If so, you’re just who we’re looking for! The CMS PTA board is searching for a passionate leader to fill the role of President for the 2025-2026 school year. We are also in search of a Parliamentarian. If you’re interested or have questions, please email cmscougarspta@gmail.com. Your involvement can make a lasting difference—thank you for considering!
Keep CMS PTA Reflections Alive – We Need You!
PTA Reflections is a wonderful program that has supported the fine arts for the past five years and is backed by the PTA. Next year’s theme is Made By Me, and CMS typically begins collecting entries in early November.
We need your help to keep CMS PTA Reflections going! The chairperson role is primarily behind the scenes, deeply appreciated, and a great way to get more involved in your child’s school. If you're interested, please email cmscougarspta@gmail.com.
Our current CMS Reflections chair is happy to help you get started but has an exiting 8th grader and will not be continuing in this role.
