WLWV Community Update

The district's new third high school is planned to be a four-year comprehensive high school for grades 9-12, including core academic subject areas, co-curricular activities, access to OSAA athletics, performing and visual arts, clubs, and all of the opportunities that students have at the district's existing high schools. It will also center in three new CTE (Career and Technical Education) pathway options in the areas of:

1. Health Occupations

2. Business and Marketing

3. Construction and Architecture

We are set to open this school in the fall of 2023. Part of the planning process includes selecting a name for the school. The district would like input from the West Linn-Wilsonville community as part of that process by February 12, 2022.

Planning principal Nic Chapin has started meeting with students at the middle and high schools to collect their ideas as well. The district will then gather a representative group of students and staff along with Planning Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent to review all submissions and create a slate of top recommended names. The final slate will be submitted to the school board for review in late February. Thank you for providing your feedback!

Would you create more wild or fun community events? Make a proclamation to celebrate National Gummy Bear Day? Whatever you'd do as the Mayor of West Linn, we want to know! Mayor Walters and The Oregon Mayors Association (OMA) invite you to enter the 2022 "If I Were Mayor" contest. One local winner in each category will be awarded a $100 gift card and recognition from Mayor Walters at a City Council meeting! Winning entries will then be entered in the statewide contest for a chance to win $500, and recognition at the OMA Summer Conference!

Entries must be submitted by 5 pm on March 14, 2022.

¿Crearías mas eventos comunitarios locos o divertidos? ¿Harías una proclamación para celebrar el Día Nacional de los Osos de Goma? ¡Cualquier cosa que hicieras como Alcalde de West Linn, lo queremos saber! La Alcaldesa Walters y la Asociación de Alcaldes de Oregon (OMA – Oregon Mayors Association, por sus siglas en ingles), les invitan a entrar al concurso “Si Yo Fuera Alcalde” 2022 (“If I Were Mayor”). Un ganador por cada categoría será premiado con una tarjeta de regalo por $100 y un reconocimiento por parte de la Alcaldesa Walters ¡en una reunión del Consejo Municipal! Los trabajos galardonados entonces, serán inscritos en el concurso a nivel estatal por la oportunidad de ganar $500, y un reconocimiento en la ¡Conferencia de Verano de OMA!
