Nest NewsLiberty High School 8/25/22

Eagles Kingdom,

We have made it to Thursday. For our seniors, their last first week of high school is almost complete. For our freshmen, the start of a new chapter has begun. We want our students to be involved (and the loved ones they live with to be just as involved) with our school community! We have an open house coming up, conferences, athletic events, school plays, concerts, and more. Please stay tuned to the weekly "Nest News" e-mails for announcements related to upcoming events and activities. If you miss an e-mail all previous ones can be found on the website HERE.

Students & Parents, if you would like something featured (LHS sponsored activity or athletic event), please have the Liberty Sponsor/Coach e-mail Lindsaykiely@wsdr4.org by noon on Wednesday. Any submission sent after noon will be put in the following weeks newsletter.

As we head towards the weekend we hope students are practicing checking their email, reviewing assignments on canvas, and watching their grades. Week one represents the building blocks of the foundation that weeks 2, 3, 27, and so on fall upon. If you need extra help please consider these opportunities.

  1. Meet with the teacher before or after school. Even 10 minutes every day adds up to an extra 50 minutes of learning for you each week. Many times it is a one-to-one ratio with the teacher during these times.
  2. Visit your teacher during their office hours throughout Soar Time (Two 30-minute opportunities are offered weekly). Soar Time Teacher Office Hours Schedule
  3. Ask to see your teacher during Thursday Nest Time (pre-arrange prior to 2 pm on the Wednesday before Nest Time).
  4. Attend after-school Academic Assist in the library from 2:25 pm - 3:25 pm Monday - Thursday.
  5. Email your teacher to ask specific questions about assignments that you are struggling to complete.

Taking advantage of all of the above suggestions would lend you over ELEVEN hours of extra help a week!

We are looking forward to celebrating our ten-year anniversary each day with EACH OF YOU! One final hint! On Fridays, we wear RED, WHITE, & BLUE! #EaglesKingdom #IBelong

New High School Bell Schedule for the 2022-2023 School Year

Below you will notice that all four high schools are transitioning to a modified block schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. This means that three days a week, students go to all of their classes, and two days a week, students go to half their classes plus an additional block for NEST Time.

SOAR Time (named Power Time on student schedule) is a one-hour break in the middle of the day for student choice. During this time, students eat lunch, practice time management and self-care as well as meet with teachers, make up tests, participate in clubs/activities, study, complete homework, and take care of their individual needs.

NEST Time (named Student Success Time on student schedule) is focused student success time on Thursdays only. During this time, students are able to visit other teachers for academic purposes, complete homework, check grades, take tests/quizzes, and participate in some career exploration. Students who are in need of additional support to meet their academic goals will receive tiered intervention.
