A Message from Your Principal Team
Dear Washington Families,
Last Friday’s teacher workday marked the end of the third quarter of the 2025–2026 school year—hard to believe how quickly the year is moving! In the coming days, your child’s report card will be mailed home. This report card is aligned with state standards and is designed to give you clear, meaningful information about your child’s academic progress.
As you review the report card together, we encourage you to celebrate scores of 3 as a sign of meeting grade-level expectations. If your child received a 1 or 2 in any area, please continue to encourage their growth. At Washington, we believe in a strong growth mindset. A helpful way to support your child at home might be to say, “You’re not there yet, but I know you can get there. How can we work together to help you grow?”
If you have any questions about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teacher—we value your partnership.
Safety continues to be a top priority at our school. In the coming weeks, students and staff will participate in a fire drill as part of our regular monthly safety preparedness practices. If you have any questions about these drills, please feel free to contact the school office.
We also want to share that in a couple of short weeks students will begin district assessments in both math and reading. Our students have worked incredibly hard all year, and this is a great opportunity for them to show their growth. Teachers are supporting students through review activities and practice opportunities. Families can help by ensuring students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and come to school feeling confident and ready to do their best.
Thank you for your continued support—let’s finish the year strong. Go Eagles!
Sincerely,
Alfredo Belanger, Principal
Antonio Ramos, Assistant Principal
What is happening at Washington?
Volunteer Appreciation night!
A big thank you to everyone who helped make our Volunteer Appreciation event such a success! We are especially grateful for the beautiful and meaningful performance by our Danza Azteca group—it was a powerful way to celebrate and honor our incredible volunteers. Your time, support, and dedication make a difference every day. We appreciate you—Go Eagles!
Literacy Night coming soon!
Join us for our Annual Family Literacy Night—an evening full of fun, learning, and culture for the whole family! Enjoy a lively performance by 123Andrés, meet Cesar the “No Drama Llama,” and explore engaging cultural experiences from Spanish-speaking countries around the world. We hope to see you there for a night of reading, music, and community.
Upcoming health lessons from The Great Body Shop
As part of our commitment to teaching students important skills for staying safe and healthy, our school provides age-appropriate, comprehensive, and inclusive instruction on topics such as personal safety, decision-making, healthy relationships, and setting boundaries. These lessons use materials from The Great Body Shop, an Oregon-adopted curriculum. If you would like to review these resources, visit The Great Body Shop website at https://www.thegreatbodyshop.net/.
If you do not wish for your child to participate, please complete and submit the Request for Student Exemption Form to your child’s teacher. A paper copy was sent home this last week. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher for more information.
Thank you for your partnership in creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students!
