Chatham Elementary School Community Update

CES SHARK Alert for Week of May 19th - 23rd

Dear CES families and friends,

I would like to thank the many families and friends who were able to attend our CES Arts Festival this past Friday. A lot of planning and time goes into both the musical performances and the creative arts displays. It is very clear that our SHARKS excel in both the visual and performance arts. Unfortunately, we were not able to fit all of our scheduled musical performances into the assembly. My deepest apologies to those students who were unable to perform their solos due to the time constraints and for the numbers that were skipped. Students who were unable to perform their solos in the songs cut from the assembly will have the opportunity to perform at our next SHARK Assembly on Wednesday, June 4th. All are welcome to join us for this special SHARK Assembly at 1:15 pm in the gym.

This week, CES looks forward to our 3rd Annual CES FUN RUN. Please consider joining us on Wednesday at the Chatham A's Field for this all-school event. Opening ceremonies begin at 11:30, followed immediately by the K-2 race. Grades 3-4 race at the conclusion of the K-2 race. Please make sure your students have appropriate footwear, water, and bring a beach towel to school for the picnic lunch that takes place after the races.

CES Fun Run - This Wednesday, May 21st!!

Field Day - Tuesday, June 3rd

Volunteers Needed

Chatham Elementary School's annual Field Day will be on Tuesday, June 3rd. This all-day event is for all CES students. Families and caregivers are welcome to join us for the festivities. Volunteers are needed to help set up and take down the event and classroom volunteers are needed to travel with classes from activity to activity. If you can volunteer your time, please sign up on the volunteer sheet located here. A reminder that all volunteers must have a current CORI form on file with MRSD.

Field Day officially begins at 8:15 and is divided into three main stations: water games (CES parking lot), carnival games (Little League field behind Monomoy Youth Services), and field games (Chatham A's field). Classes spend one hour at each station and have the opportunity to play all of the games at each station. The day ends with our annual tug-of-war competition on the A's field, followed by a soaking from our friends at the Chatham Fire Department.

Students will receive their field day t-shirts in homeroom the morning of the event. We highly recommend that students bring a towel and are prepared for a full day in the sun with hats and/or sunscreen, and a water bottle. Many students choose to wear a bathing suit under their shorts and t-shirts.

Chatham Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

The PTO meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Media Center. Parents that would like to attend from home can connect via the Zoom Meeting Link provided below. There are lots of activities coming soon and all sorts of help is needed.

CES Float for the Chatham 4th of July Parade

CES will be represented again this year in the 2025 Chatham 4th of July Parade. This year, Ms. Kidd and her club are hard at work designing and building the CES float.

We are currently seeking a community member with a flat bed truck who would be willing to be part of the parade with our group. If you're interested in helping out and being a part of this fun-loving, patriotic group please contact Ms. Kidd ckidd@monomoy.edu or Dr. Kelly at jakelly@monomoy.edu
