LEWIS ELEMENTARY NEWS
May 20th
Dear Lewis Community,
As we bid a fond farewell to Principal Froehlich with gratitude and recognition for her dedication to Lewis Elementary School, wishing her all the very best as she embarks on the next chapter of her life, we must now begin the process of identifying and hiring your next building leader. The foundational first step of that process is engaging the voices of those who will be working directly with that new leader; the Lewis staff and community. Please read on for ways to share yours.
1. Attend a meeting at Lewis on Tuesday, May 26th in the Library to learn about the hiring process and to provide input
For Staff: 2:45-3:45pm
For Community/Parents/Guardians: 5:00-6:00pm
If an in person meeting does not work for your schedule, our Community Feedback Survey is available through June 4, 2026 and you may share as many submissions as you like.
2. Apply to serve on the Community/Staff Candidate Review Panel
Three community members will serve alongside three staff members to review between 3-4 candidates who will be selected based upon the characteristics identified from the survey and feedback sessions
Panel members will be required to take part in the interview process, which will take place in the evening. (This is a 4-5 hour time commitment.)
If interested, please submit this interest form as soon as possible
If selected, you will be contacted about your availability once the interview date is finalized
The panel will give their recommendations on which candidate(s) are best suited to move forward for consideration
PLEASE NOTE: In certain cases, the Superintendent may appoint a candidate who meets the qualifications identified by the community members in steps 1 and 2 listed above, eliminating the need for a community review panel. However, we will keep you informed of the process as it unfolds.
We recognize the imperative to conduct this process with a holistic, transparent approach that considers the complex, multifaceted strengths and challenges that combine to make Lewis so remarkable. I look forward to partnering with you in this challenging, yet exciting endeavor.
Warm Regards,
Chandra Cooper
Senior Director of Schools

The energy is building, the banners are being prepped, and the glitter is ready—it’s time for our 6th Annual Pride Parade! Join us on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lewis. What began as a small, heartfelt school parade has blossomed into a beautiful, vibrant tradition for our entire community. It’s a day where we celebrate inclusion, diversity, and the simple, powerful act of love. This year, we’re dreaming even bigger to ensure every student and neighbor feels the warmth of this incredible community.
The Lewis Pride celebration is a vital, joyful sanctuary in an increasingly divided world. It’s our chance to stand together, loud and proud, to cheer on our kids and lift up our queer community. We aren't just hosting an event; we are building a world where every child knows they belong exactly as they are. This year we have soooooo many more fun events, tables, partners, and resources available to our kids and community! We can't wait to celebrate with you on Saturday, June 6th.
