Safety Week & Community Visitors!
This week we have been reviewing our emergency safety protocols and the adults in our school community that keep us safe and are always there to help. Our Wildcat Wednesday focus was centered around the adults in our school community that keep us safe, too. As an extra special bonus, we had different groups welcoming our students to school each morning. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful and supportive group of people impacting our students in such positive ways. When they say, "it takes a village" it really does!
Don't forget that tomorrow we are wearing blue for safety week tomorrow!

Spring Showcase! It's Next Week!!
We are so excited for our annual Spring Showcase events! Next week, based on your child's program, your whole family is invited to join us for a fun night that includes a short concert, fun in your child's classroom and neighboring rooms, the PTA Bookfair and more! Our students truly shine on this night! It's a celebration of their learning and how much they have grown!
Your child's teacher should've sent an invitation to you with the specific start and end times as they are different based on programs. Please be aware that there will be many families and little ones, so safety in our parking lot is expected and appreciated.
School Improvement Day
Just a reminder we have a SIP day on Wednesday, April 17th. Early Release at 10:40 for Primary students and for EC/WELE only PM attends and they attend in the morning session.
April is Autism Acceptance Month
April used to be known as Autism Awareness Month. But in 2021, the designation changed to Autism Acceptance Month. It's a simple – but important – revision.
Awareness is knowing that somebody has autism. Acceptance is when you include a person with autism in your activities. Help them to develop in that community and get that sense of connection to other people.
President Biden said, "I call upon all Americans to learn more about autism to improve early diagnosis, to learn more about the experiences of autistic people from autistic people, and to build more welcoming and inclusive communities to support people with autism."
Understanding autism can begin with stories about a child, sibling, friend, and classmate with autism. Click this link to find a collection of stories for elementary-age children and their families.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Woodland D50 has once again joined forces with area organizations to help raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month in April! We are participating in the Blue Kids Lake County Program to help spread the word to various Woodland stakeholders. Sharing knowledge and resources about child abuse sends the message that all children deserve a chance at a safe childhood. Throughout the month of April, you may notice Blue Kids Lake County posters and signs displayed around the community. The Lake County Children's Advocacy Center creates and distributes these materials to help keep our children safe. https://friendsoflccac.org/blue-kids/

First Grade Placement Information
Soon, we will begin working on first grade class lists for the 2024-2025 school year. We do our best to ensure that each classroom has positive group dynamics and is well balanced. As we start this process, if you have information you would like us to consider as it pertains to your child’s learning style, please complete the form below by Monday, April 22nd.
Requests for a specific teacher are not recommended, please provide general information to help us in our placement process (teaching style, special considerations, etc.). Please note that making a request does not guarantee it can be honored.
Throughout the placement process, a great deal of careful thought will be given by our teachers regarding each individual student’s learning strengths and peer relations. We will continue to work hard to create the best learning environment for every child.
The forms below will be used for this process, please don't email your child's teacher or administration, we are collaborating on class lists and using the forms below.
