SMS & CMS 8th Graders Explore College Pathways at Ivy Tech
Eighth graders from Sullivan Middle School and Carlisle Middle School recently spent the day at Ivy Tech Community College, where they had the opportunity to explore a variety of programs and learn more about higher education pathways.
Students toured departments including Health Sciences, Social Sciences, College of Business, Nursing, and Robotics, gaining firsthand insight into different career fields. They also met with Ivy Tech staff, including the Director of Career Coaching, to discuss future opportunities, college readiness, and career pathways.
The experience gave students a chance to picture themselves in higher education while asking questions about future studies and career possibilities. From sitting in lecture halls to exploring hands-on labs, SMS and CMS students left with a clearer understanding of the options available to them after high school.
Both schools are grateful to Ivy Tech for hosting such an engaging and informative event that will help prepare students as they begin to think about their futures.
Students to Gather for Annual "See You at the Pole" Event
Students at Sullivan High School will join together for the annual See You at the Pole (SYATP) prayer event on Wednesday, September 24, at 7:30 a.m. in the school’s front circle.
SYATP is part of a nationwide student-led movement where young people gather around their school’s flagpole to pray for their schools, communities, and nation. The tradition, which began in Texas in 1990, has since grown into a global event observed by millions of students each year.
At Sullivan High School, students, staff, and community members are invited to participate in the time of prayer and reflection before the school day begins. The event emphasizes unity, faith, and hope as students stand together to support one another.
For those attending, the gathering will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to find a spot around the flagpole.
