Dear Families,

Despite our brilliant traps, I am sad to report that (once again) we didn’t catch any leprechauns on Friday. They did leave many mischievous messes behind, though - Mrs. Doherty and I worked late into the night on Friday trying to clean up from all of their shenanigans….maybe next year will be the year!

The upcoming week will be an unofficial “Safety Week” here at Wessagusset. We will be taking some time to review the safety routines and expected behaviors during a fire drill, shelter in place, and lockdown. It is important to be empowered and well-prepared, and we will support our students through these practices in thoughtful, developmentally appropriate ways. Next week I will update you on the routines we practiced, and I have also included helpful explanations in the attached document: Wessagusset School Safety Routines. Here are many important updates for the weeks ahead!

  • Spring Picture Day will take place on March 28th. Ordering information was sent home this week, but you can also order online by going to mylifetouch.com and entering our “Picture Day ID”: EVT2JM7DJ

  • It is Yearbook season! Yearbooks are for students at all grade levels, and are a great way to remember the memories made this year. When you order school pictures, you can add a yearbook to your cart! There is also a link to upload photos of special events. This year you can upload photos directly to the Lifetouch site to make it easy + fast! Click on this link: https://community.lifetouch.com/invite?code=WESS-YEARBOOK-PHOTOS--23 and enter the code: WESS-YEARBOOK-PHOTOS--23. More information can be found here: 22-23 Yearbook Info

  • Morning Routine Request! We’ve noticed many of our students are bringing in outside treats from Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts in the morning, like hot cocoa and iced coffee. As much as we love a yummy morning treat, we ask that these be finished in the car or outside of school before coming in. These types of drinks can be a distraction and get messy in our work areas and classrooms. Thank you for your help with this request!

  • In-person conferences will take place on the evening of Tuesday, April 4th from 5-8 pm, and virtual conferences will take place during the afternoon of Wednesday, April 5th from 12:25-3:25 pm. During your conference, teachers will have helpful information to share with you, and you are welcome to ask any questions you have regarding your child’s progress. A strong partnership between home and school is very important, and we are dedicated to supporting your child’s growth. Homeroom teachers will be sending out sign-up information tomorrow, March 20th.

  • All are welcome to attend the March SEPAC meeting, an informative discussion on “The ABC’s of Discipline”: March Meeting Information

  • Save the dates for MCAS!

    • April 4th and 6th - ELA, Grades 3-5

    • May 10th and 11th - Math, Grade 5

    • May 16th and 18th - Math, Grades 3 and 4, Science, Grade 5

All are welcome to enjoy Wonderful Wess this Friday evening from 5:30-7:45. We hope you will come and admire all of the hobbies and talent that will be on display!

Here's to a great week ahead!
