A Message From Mrs. Gabriela Elliott, Campus Principal

Greetings Ravens!

Thank you for an amazing week of learning. We had an awesome time celebrating 100 days of school. Thank you to all that participated with creative 100 days of school shirts. Love the creativity and fun! We also finished testing our 8th graders in TSIA2. Thank you Counselors for your diligence in ensuring our Ravens have endless opportunities.

Our week's attendance was 96.11%. Super close to our goal of 97% or better. Outstanding job RAVENS!!! Wooohooo!!

Drum roll please!!!!! Our 6th graders have reached their highest percent yet with 97.75% attendance this week. WOW!!!!! Very impressive, and they have earned free dress Monday!!! Our 7th Graders lost first place from last week with 95.49% attendance!! Not a bad percent though. Way to go 7th grade!!!!! 8th grade came in third with 94.73%, a two point increase from last week. Much better Ravens, please keep that momentum going. Parents thank you for encourage your children to be in school every day.

As an added incentive, we are raffling a PS5 at the end of the 9 weeks for any student with perfect attendance, starting 1/17/2024 to March 1st. Thank you teachers and staff for your support and encouragement to our scholars. Every percent matters Ravens! Let's keep pushing and growing! Our goal is 97% or better. Every day, every minute of instruction matters.

We track attendance daily and will communicate with families when children have 5 absences & tardies to establish a Loss of Credit Contract. Our goal is for your child to be healthy and at school without losing credit.

  • Each SCHOLAR with perfect attendance Monday-Friday will be allowed to wear jeans Fridays.
  • Each SCHOLAR with perfect attendance for 9 weeks will be invited to our Raven Dance at the end of the semester FREE of CHARGE to celebrate their accomplishment!
  • Each GRADE LEVEL that earns the highest attendance for the week gets free dress on the Monday after.
  • Perfect attendance 1/17/24 to 3/1/224 enters a raffle for a chance to win a PS5

Tardies.

Scholars will be counted TARDY whey they enter the building after 8:00 AM and will result in lunch detention.

Again, we are holding power hour after school. Our benchmarks, PAAM Testing and TELPAS TESTING are these 9 weeks. STAAR tests will be in early and late April. We have three and a half months to ensure that our Ravens are ready for STAAR and the upcoming school year. Thank you teachers for always bringing your best.

Fliers - please note fliers below for fundraiser opportunities, Feeder Parent Cafe, Latino Literacy Family Nights, Friday Camps, and March Intersession (all Ravens are invited).

Friday Camps: We are calling out all RAVEN Scholars to participate in our Friday Camps. Scholars that attend will enter a raffle to pie our administration and teacher volunteers during lunch periods. Plus, students will be getting pizza, a snack, and raffle prizes the day of the camps.

National Counselors Week: It is National Counselor's Week. Raven Country knows we have the best!!! Let's honor them and show them our gratitude by thanking them and writing appreciation letters.

Online Store - Currently, taking orders for school merchandise. https://ravenstore.itemorder.com/

Student IDs - All students need to have an ID to ride the Bus. They must check in as they enter and exit the bus. We have an app Ride 360 that helps us track routes and students aboard. Students without ID's may loose the privilege to ride the bus. All ID were distributed at the beginning of the school. If students lost them, they are $5 with our Librarian Ms. Nunez.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up - Please note regular instructional day drop off/pick up procedures, as a reminder that the only pick up and drop off area is on the west side of the building. This helps ensure the safety of all students at dismissal time and morning entrance. Thank you for your understanding.

February's Theme is Kindness.

  • What is Kindness?

Kindness is the ability and willingness to express care and compassion for others. Kindness is a choice to use our time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others and the world through genuine acts of love, compassion, generosity, and service.

    Why focus on Kindness?

    • Kindness boosts positive emotions. Acts of kindness create neural pathways that enhance feelings of well-being and the natural flow of feel-good endorphins and neurotransmitters.
    • Kindness is self-replicating. When we perform an act of kindness, it is likely to encourage others to act in a similar way.
    • Kindness reduces stress and anxiety. Kindness promotes positive relationships with other people. Anything that helps you to build bonds with other people helps decrease anxiety.

    Kindness in Action:

    • Celebrate small things. Start each day with Good Things as a class. Publicly and privately affirm kind and thoughtful actions and attitudes.
    • Create opportunities for students to regularly affirm each other. Once a week, dedicate time for students to write notes of affirmation to classmates and school staff members.
    • Model Kindness. Be mindful of body language, tone, and mindset. Kindness is learned by example!

Gentle Reminder on Drop Off and Pick Up

Please note parent drop off and pick up is on the west side only. Visitor front parking is limited to handicap and those coming to front office. We have seen some parents picking up in the front. This poses a safety issue. We will be monitoring the front entrance again to ensure everyone is safe.

Library Corner

We welcome all Eastlake MS students to become Raven Readers! Students are expected to check-out and read at least 4 books every marking period to support their literacy. To best encourage this, we provide a great selection of books students will be interested in picking for independent reading, including graphic novels!

The library is promoting different types of books through displays. We invite you to check them out!
