If your student is marked "unexcused" absent for any part of the day, you will receive an automated phone call to let you know. This can serve as your reminder to call in your student's absence as "excused" or let you know if your student was marked absent for only one hour in the middle of the day!
If your child is going to be absent or late to school,
please call the absence line at 810-591-2810.
Positive Behavior Support and Incentives!
At the end of each marking period, students who have had no major referrals and less than five minor referrals are eligible to participate in Challenge Day. This marking period students will attend an assembly where students compete against staff in a game of sideline frisbee. Also, students who have not had ANY referrals this marking period can pick to be included in a drawing for one of the "big" prizes. Prizes include Air Pods, a 32" TV, tabletop fooseball, and more!
Students who are able to maintain no major referrals and less than five minor referrals for the whole year are eligible to attend a trip to Washington DC* (8th grade only) or Cedar Point (7th and 8th grade students). Stay tuned for more information on Cedar Point during second semester. The trip is on June 2nd this year!
*The Washington DC trip has spaces available!
If you have not signed up and want information, please contact Mr. Powers.
We have 103 submissions so far for our family survey! Thank you for filling this out! We would love to beat last years total of 117. Here is the link if you haven’t filled it out.
Book Fair
Our annual book fair is scheduled for November 16th - 20th. Students will come down during their ELA class and can purchase from the book fair that week. Follow the link for additional information and to preview what will be available for sale.
Yearbook
Students are encouraged to purchase a yearbook early! Yearbooks are $45 and can be purchased through the Jostens website.
If your student is in 8th grade and is interested in helping put the yearbook together, please contact Mrs Keelor.
Important Reminder
Unless students are involved in specific after-school activities (with adult supervision), or are working directly with staff, they are NOT allowed to "hang out" in the building after school.
Thank you for your cooperation!

News from the Cafeteria
Remember, breakfast is FREE this year! Please join us daily.
Eating breakfast is an important start to a successful academic day. Students need to start each day with a healthy mean to maxamize learning. Since mornings can be hectic and sometimes students do not have time to eat breakfast before the bus comes, Flushing Schools offers breakfast each morning from 7:25-8:15 AM in the cafeteria.
School breakfast includes whole-grain items, fresh or canned fruit, and 1% or chocolate milk. Help your child start the day right with school breakfast!
Please contact Sonia Shortz, Food Service Director, with any questions. 810-591-2791
Also - a shout out to our cafeteria staff! They were awarded an Outstanding Food Service Sanitation award from the Genesee County Health Department. Congratulations!
National Junior Honor Society
All 8th graders with a cumulative 3.6 GPA or higher from 7th grade have been invited to be part of National Junior Honors Society. Those students were given an invitation to apply for membership earlier this school year. Students were inducted on Tuesday, October 20th @ 7:00PM in the High School Auditorium. Please contact Mrs. McCarthy with any questions.
Students will complete community service hours and meet throughout the school year.
