DMS Delivers

Dear DMS Families,

It is hard to believe that MCAS is right around the corner. Below you will find further information on our Spring MCAS dates. You will notice that 7th and 8th grade students will be testing on the same days this year. In addition, our STE testing will take place prior to Math, and 8th grade students will take the Civics exam as well. We ask that students try their best to be in school on their testing days, as make- up days can be challenging. While make- up days do model a similar environment, students also must miss class for the make- up exam, which may put them further behind in their classes and cause unnecessary stress. It is best to participate on the days that their whole grade level is testing. Thank you in advance for your support during our testing season. We do understand that things may come up, so please just reach out to the Main Office if this is the case.

As we move into next week, we wanted to make families aware that we are about halfway through Trimester II. We have reminded students to check- in with their teachers to ensure that they are up to date with their assignments, but we also wanted to remind parents/guardians as well. If you do not already have access, Aspen Portal is a great way to get up to date information on student progress. If you need access to the portal, please feel free to reach out to the DMS Main Office.

In addition, our annual Winter Wonderland will take place on Thursday, February 13th. Further details can be found below regarding this event, as well as for ordering a t-shirt for the PTO sponsored Color Run. You will also find a DR Rec Night flier, the January Wellness Newsletter, and various fliers from the community.

We are excited to announce that Winter Wonderland is back and will be taking place in just a few short weeks on February 13th! It will start right after school until 4:30! There will be a variety of activities, like karaoke, bowling, arts and crafts, and sports in the gym. We will be selling pizza, cookies, candy and drinks!

Tickets are $5 and will go on sale during lunches starting on January 27th and will be available to purchase until February 10th!

This Spring, the Dighton PTO will host our annual Color Run. Please use this link to order your child a t- shirt for the event.

Dear DR Families,

As you may know, Massachusetts now provides free breakfast and lunch for all students across the Commonwealth!

We are encouraging families who may have qualified for the National Free & Reduced School Lunch Program in the past to complete the online application. This helps determine eligibility and ensures that we can continue to offer reduced or waived fees for various programs and activities. When completing the application, please remember to include consent for sharing your status with relevant departments and programs.

Without this qualification and your consent, we will be unable to provide reduced or waived fees.

Dear Families,

We hope this message finds you well. As part of our commitment to maintaining our technology resources, we wanted to inform you about our updated repair fee structure. This will go into effect on October 28, 2024. These fees help us cover the cost of repairs when school-issued devices are damaged due to misuse or carelessness. The fees are divided into three tiers, depending on the extent of the damage:

• Level 1: Charger, Cover (top or bottom), Touchpad, etc- $40
• Level 2: Keyboard, Monitor- $75
• Level 3: Total Loss/Replacement- $300

We encourage students to handle their devices with care to avoid any damage and the associated costs. If a device does require repair, the appropriate fee will be communicated to you along with the steps to resolve the issue.
