The Dawg Dispatch

The Dawg Dispatch is our weekly snapshot of life as a Bulldawg, straight facts, clear wins, and what’s next, so families and staff can pull in the same direction. It reflects our mission:

“The mission of the Aberdeen School District is to inspire ALL students to become problem-solvers, lifelong learners, and productive members of society.”

Aberdeen High School students and staff spent the week expanding their knowledge and skills at a Mississippi State University conference designed for AP Computer Science Principles and AP Statistics students.

During the first day of the conference, students participated in introductory programming lessons and worked through a variety of logic puzzles that challenged their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

One of the highlights of the day was a tour of Mississippi State University's High Voltage Laboratory. Students had the opportunity to witness impressive arc lightning experiments and even observe a fabricated lightning strike, providing a firsthand look at the power and science behind electrical engineering.

The week-long experience gave students valuable exposure to advanced STEM concepts while allowing them to learn from university faculty and professionals in the field.

The Aberdeen High School AFJROTC and SkyDawgs Aviation Summer Camp will be held on June 22, 24, 25, and 26, 2026, and is open to Aberdeen School District students in grades 8–12.

The camp will operate each day from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and will provide students with exciting hands-on experiences and exposure to aviation-related careers, technologies, and opportunities. Participants will have the chance to explore the world of aviation while learning from knowledgeable instructors and engaging in interactive activities.

This unique program is designed to spark student interest in aviation, aerospace, STEM fields, and future career pathways while building valuable skills and knowledge.

Families are encouraged to mark their calendars and make plans for their scholars to participate in this outstanding opportunity. Additional information regarding registration and camp activities will be shared as it becomes available.

Aberdeen Elementary School's summer school students recently enjoyed a wonderful visit to Evans Memorial Library as part of the library's Summer Reading Program.

During the visit, students attended a special presentation by Stormin' Bob, The Singing Weatherman. His entertaining and interactive program combined music, weather, and science in a fun and engaging way that captured students' attention from beginning to end. Students actively participated throughout the presentation while learning valuable lessons and having a great time.

The experience provided an excellent opportunity to reinforce the importance of reading, learning, and exploration during the summer months. Events like these help inspire curiosity and encourage students to continue growing academically even while school is out.

We are grateful to Evans Memorial Library for providing this exciting opportunity for our students and for their continued support of literacy and lifelong learning in our community.

A special thank-you goes to Stormin' Bob, The Singing Weatherman, and the staff of Evans Memorial Library for making this a memorable and educational day for our students.

Congratulations to our Aberdeen High School scholar who was recently awarded a Rotary Club Scholarship for the 2025–2026 school year.

As part of this special recognition, he and his mom attended a luncheon hosted by the Rotary Club, where he was honored for his accomplishments and commitment to academic success. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate his achievements alongside Dr. Pastchal-Smith, ASD Superintendent, community leaders, and supporters of education.

We are proud of his hard work and dedication, and look forward to seeing all that he will accomplish in the future.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

Aberdeen High School JROTC cadets recently participated in a water survival lesson designed to build confidence, preparedness, and essential life-saving skills. During the training, students learned water safety techniques, survival strategies, and the importance of remaining calm in emergency situations. These hands-on experiences help develop leadership, discipline, and readiness while equipping cadets with valuable skills they can use throughout their lives.
