SMS student Christine Alex recently earned third place at the National Civics Bee® Metrocrest Local Finals held on April 8 at Dallas Brookhaven College. She is now heading to State to compete in the National Civics Bee. She was encouraged to participate by SMS seventh grade Texas history teacher Brenda Wolston.
The competition featured outstanding middle school students who demonstrated their knowledge of civics, critical thinking skills, as well as their commitment to community engagement. Finalists represent a diverse group of schools, including Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Coppell ISD, Frisco ISD, Sunnyvale ISD, as well as homeschool and charter school students from across the region.
