Happy July!

Dear OLHMS Community,

I hope our mustangs are enjoying a relaxing and well-deserved summer break! I want to take a minute out of our summer break to look ahead to the 2026-2027 school year. I am honored to serve as the principal of Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School and excited to continue working alongside our incredible students, families, and staff. With more than 15 years in education and two years as part of the OLHMS community, I believe that strong relationships, open communication, and high expectations create the foundation for student success. This year, we will continue to foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every Mustang is encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

As both an educator and a parent of two middle schoolers, I value the partnership between home and school and look forward to working together to make this an outstanding year for our students.

Thank you for your continued support. I can't wait to welcome our Mustangs back in August!

Go Mustangs!

A Note From the OLHMS NJHS Sponsors

The Oak Lawn–Hometown Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a prestigious organization available to our current 7th and 8th grade students.

Students who are interested in petitioning for membership, as well as current members who wish to maintain their NJHS membership, must meet and uphold the qualifying standards that reflect the five pillars of NJHS: Scholarship, Citizenship, Leadership, Character, and Service.

Petitioning students must meet the eligibility requirements and maintain the criteria outlined in the attached materials in order to be considered for induction into the organization later this school year. Current NJHS members are also expected to continue meeting these standards to remain active members in good standing.

Please review all requirements carefully and ensure that all expectations are met by the designated deadlines.

Please see the attached updated OLHMS NJHS By-Laws for additional information regarding membership expectations, requirements, and chapter procedures.

If you have any questions, please contact the NJHS sponsors.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Maggie Omiecinski, Ms. Jen DiSalvo, & Mrs. Alyssa Zajack
NJHS Sponsors
