Newby's Tiger Troopers Newby's Tiger Troopers

Newby Leadership students can choose their service project(s) and this group of Troopers are the school recyclers.

The students say they chose the recycling job because it is “fun,” even though they give up morning recess to complete it. Good job, Troopers!

Some classes leave the bins outside the classroom door in the hallways.

New State Guidance

Earlier this week I shared that MSD will end the mask mandate in schools on March 12. The change is based on CDC and OHA guidance that uses the CDC's new Community Level tool. A link to the tool can be found on the district website under the COVID button.

On Wednesday, the Oregon Department of Education released new guidance, which we are working through with staff. Stay tuned for a detailed update next week.

Winter Sports Championships

Congratulations to the Mac High cheer squad, who came home this week as national champions! Students lined the outer walkway and the main hallway to cheer the team home.

In the wrestling state championship, senior Chris Dillworth was a silver medalist, and the girls basketball team made the first round in the state playoffs.

Great job, Grizzlies!

Check out senior Winfield Hall's creation from his Fabrication class, which popped up in the MHS Athletic and Activities Hall!

Winfield, who is a Music Pathway student, participates in all the bands at Mac High and created the sculpture as a tribute to the music program.
