Principal's Note

Welcome back after an extended half term break. I do hope that you were all able to refresh and spend quality time together as a family. It has been lovely to get back to work, with our wonderful OAE community this week, and see all our young people, refreshed and ready for learning again.

We had quite the exciting week, this week. On Monday, we welcomed education leaders from Chile to our academy. They spent the day observing learning and learning from leaders on how to create positive learning environments, which they will take away and implement in their schools and academies in Chile.

On Wednesday, we welcomed the ITV National News crew, who interviewed both myself and some of our wonderful year 9 students, about the proposed changes to the National Curriculum offer, which was announced this week. This was then used on the 6.30pm ITV Evening News. We have shared the link to this footage, so do take time to see OAE's name in lights.

Yesterday, we welcomed National Directors from OCL into the Academy, who also spent the afternoon observing learning and using this to inform future practice across the Trust.

We are so proud to 'show off' the academy, to all of our visitors. The students really did show all visitors what the 'Enfield Way' is in practice, and were genuinely 'the best they can be!'

Bertha Earth Bertha Earth

We are thrilled to share that this week marks the beginning of an exciting journey for our year 7 students as they embark on the Bertha Earth programme a transformative experience designed to inspire young people to become environmental leaders and changemakers.

What is Bertha Earth?

Bertha Earth is a youth-led initiative that empowers students to connect deeply with nature, explore their values, and take meaningful action for the planet. Over the coming weeks, your child will engage in a series of workshops and activities that foster leadership, creativity, and environmental stewardship.

Highlights:

On this first day, the students:

· Got to know each other through team-building activities and shared stories.

· Explored their values and began forming a sense of community.

· Created their Team Agreement, outlining how they will support one another, communicate respectfully, and work collaboratively throughout the programme.

This agreement is a cornerstone of the Bertha Earth journey, helping students build trust and a shared sense of purpose.

We are incredibly proud of how our students have embraced this opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity. We look forward to seeing how they grow as individuals and as a team.

Labour Market Spotlight: The Growing Green Sector in London Labour Market Spotlight: The Growing Green Sector in London

Each month, we highlight a key growth area in London’s job market to help parents and carers stay informed about emerging career opportunities for our students.

The Green sector is one of London’s fastest-growing areas of employment, offering exciting opportunities for young people interested in sustainability and protecting the environment.

With an average advertised salary of £45,300 and over 14,000 employers in the capital, this sector is becoming an important part of the UK economy. Around 5% of London’s workforce is already employed in green-related jobs — and this number is increasing every year.

Examples of careers in the Green sector include:

🔹 Renewable energy and engineering

🔹 Sustainable construction and design

🔹 Environmental consultancy and research

🔹 Recycling and waste management

🔹 Green transport and logistics

Employers in this field value young people with technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and teamwork.

International Visit to Madrid International Visit to Madrid

International Visit to Madrid

We are delighted to share that our school has taken an exciting step towards building international connections by visiting Arcángel International School in Madrid, Spain. This visit marks the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at fostering global awareness, cultural exchange, and collaborative learning opportunities for our students.

As a proud Bronze Global School Alliance member, we are committed to enriching our students’ educational experience through international engagement. During our visit, we explored ways to connect our students with their peers in Madrid through:

  • Virtual exchange projects
  • Collaborative language and culture activities
  • Joint environmental and sustainability initiatives
  • Shared creative arts and storytelling projects
  • Pen-pal programmes and video calls

This partnership will allow our students to broaden their horizons, develop intercultural understanding, and strengthen their communication skills in real-world contexts.

We look forward to keeping you updated as this exciting collaboration develops and to involving our students in meaningful global learning experiences.

If any parent/carers or students have old trainers—adult or children's sizes—that are no longer needed, we in the PE department would be incredibly grateful to receive them. These donations will go directly to support students who do not have suitable footwear for PE lessons.

Whether it's a pair gathering dust at home or shoes your children have outgrown, every contribution helps ensure all students can participate safely and comfortably. Thank you, Ms Cotter, Head of PE

Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield

Our ethos is rooted in what we believe and who we are. Grounded in our story, it is an expression of our character; a set of values that inform and provide the lens on everything we do.

  • A passion to include
  • A desire to treat people equally respecting differences
  • A commitment to healthy, open relationships
  • A deep sense of hope that things can change and be transformed
  • A sense of perseverance to keep going for the long haul

It is these ethos values that we want to be known for and to live by. We are committed to a model of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope, and perseverance throughout all the aspects of the life and culture of every Oasis Hub and academy community.

We encourage every member of our family, be that staff or student, to align themselves to these ethos values. The values themselves are inspired by the life, message and example of Jesus but we make it clear that we will not impose on anyone, the beliefs that underpin our ethos values. We recognise and celebrate the richness that spiritual and cultural diversity brings to our community, respecting the beliefs and practices of other faiths in the hope that we will provide a welcoming environment for all.

9 Habits at Oasis Academy Enfield 9 Habits at Oasis Academy Enfield

To help us in this process of personal growth and development we have the Oasis 9 Habits. It is our bespoke and unique approach to character development. We know that by living the way of the Habits, the Oasis Ethos will become second nature to us.

We are pleased to share details of The Children’s Society’s upcoming #LookCloser Programme of Learning events for October 2025 – December 2025.

The campaign also seeks to challenge assumptions and victim stereotypes, highlighting that child exploitation can happen anywhere, and any young person can be a victim.
