School Advisory Council and P&F ACMs
This year’s School Advisory Council and Parents & Friends (P&F) Annual Community Meetings will be held on Tuesday, 21st November commencing at 6.30pm in the Library.
Please put the date and time in your diary so you can attend these important meetings.
Attendees will be given free entry to door prizes kindly supplied by the P&F.
We are still looking for parents to join both the School Council (only 1 nomination to date) and the P&F Executive (no nominations received yet). Please consider helping these vital school groups by volunteering your time. The roles were outlined in the previous newsletter.
Nomination forms are available from the office or can be emailed to you - just ask Gill.
Canteen
Like many other primary schools, we have had to make the difficult decision to close the school canteen at the end of this year. We acknowledge there are several children who order lunch from the canteen daily. We are investigating alternative order-on-line options that will cater for those who order daily and those who order less frequently. Further information regarding the preferred option will be given before the end of this year.
We are extremely grateful for the 29 years of dedicated service Lina has given to the St Anthony’s community and wish her all the very best for her future endeavours.
Thank You
Thank you to the many parents who have heeded my reminders about road traffic safety. Your cooperation has meant smoother traffic flow at the roundabout on Dundebar and less congestion as cars are leaving the school pick-up areas.

St Anthony's Code of Conduct: Fostering Respect and Unity
Dear St Anthony’s Parents,
At St Anthony’s School, we have a commitment to our student-developed Code of Conduct, a collaborative effort that reflects our commitment to creating a respectful and harmonious school environment. We believe that feeling respected is fundamental to a positive educational experience. Let’s delve into the key elements:
- Respecting School Property: Our students pledge to treat school property with care and consideration. Whether it’s a classroom desk, a library book, or playground equipment, we honour our shared spaces.
- Community Respect and Active Listening: We encourage our students to be respectful members of the St Anthony’s community. This means actively listening to one another, valuing diverse perspectives, and practicing empathy. When someone speaks, we lend our ears and hearts.
But what happens when respect falters? When conflicts arise, we have a plan:
- Seek Guidance: If a student feels disrespected or encounters conflict, they know they can turn to a trusted adult. Our teachers, social workers, and staff are here to listen, guide, and mediate.
- Check on Each Other: We are a family at St Anthony’s. When someone seems upset or hurt, our students step up. A simple “Are you okay?” or a friendly smile can make all the difference.
Warm regards,
Mike Barns
Assistant Principal
Faith In Action
In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we gather as a faith community to celebrate and congratulate Year 3 students making their Reconciliation this week. During this special event, each child encounters the Risen Christ, who reveals the Father's mercy and renews their lives in the Spirit. This experience invites them to recall their Baptism and leads them towards complete communion with Christ and the Church in the Eucharist.
Lacey, Marcus, and Jacob are currently participating in the Altar Server Course with Fr Peter. An altar server plays the role of a lay assistant to a member of the clergy during Mass. The altar server attends to various supporting tasks at the altar, including fetching and carrying, ringing the altar bell, assisting with the presentation of gifts, and bringing the liturgical books, among other important responsibilities.
Our Mercy house was named after the Mercy sisters. In 1846, the first foundation in Australia, led by Ursula Frayne, was made in Perth. In 1857, Ursula travelled to Melbourne to establish the first foundation of the Sisters of Mercy in Victoria. Today, there are over 1000 Sisters of Mercy in Australia who work in education, health, social welfare and parish work, as well as on the Mission in Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, New Guinea and Africa. The first principal and teachers in our school were Mercy Sisters, who opened our school in 1935.

Year 1 News
Our young explorers went on an amazing trip to the zoo last week. It was a day full of wonder, education, and, of course, some furry and feathered friends. The kids got to see everything from lions to penguins in several animal exhibitions. As they observed the monkeys swinging from tree to tree and the giraffes stretching their long necks for a nibble of leaves, their faces lit up with amazement.
The animals' habitats, fascinating information, and the significance of wildlife conservation were all remembered by children. In addition to being a delightful day, it was also a educational experience. We would like to thank the parent volunteers who helped to make this trip possible.
My favourite thing at the zoo was the penguins because they were funny. A giant chicken ate my pizza scroll. My brother was my parent helper and he took photos.
Charleigh
I looked the penguins because they were so cute. They had bracelets. I wanted to swim with them but I couldn't.
Isabel
At the zoo I liked the penguins because it looked like they were having a pool party.
Nadia
At the zoo I loved the giraffe. They have long necks that can reach up. They have spots and they eat leaves.

Year 2 News
Year 2 have been busy practicing our communication and cooperation skills. We participated in a team building balloon day, where we needed to appreciate and respect our team members' opinions and ideas. We learned that the better we communicate, the more likely we are to win a challenge!
We have twisted ourselves into knots, raced against time to move pencils along a line and collaborated to complete a team picture with only one pencil! Some of the activities have challenged us but we are working hard to give our personal best and be united.
Music News
Choir Singing at Kmart
The choir have one again been invited to sing some Christmas songs at the official opening of the Kmart Wishing Tree.
The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is Australia's largest and longest-running gift collection drive. It has been helping assist those in need in local communities at Christmas and beyond for over 30 years.
This is taking place on Thursday the 16th of November in front of Kmart in Wanneroo Central Shopping Centre, at 10am. We would love to see some parents and friends in the audience; all are welcome.
As we will be wearing our new choir shirts, please come to school in the sports uniform so we are all wearing the school shorts. We will meet in the music room at 9am and hand out the choir shirts for the day.
Once we return from Kmart, we will have recess then head over to our Church Hall where we will be spreading more Christmas cheer to the folks at The Gathering.
Don’t forget to come to choir rehearsal Friday 8am for our last practise before a very busy week next week.
