Principal's Note

This week, we came together as a school community to mark Remembrance Day with respect and gratitude. The whole academy community, came together, with great thoughtfulness, taking time to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served and continue to serve in the armed forces. The two minute silence was observed with dignity, showing an understanding of its importance.

Conversations with families at home, help to reinforce the lessons we have delivered in the academy, about gratitude, peace and hope, all values we nurture at OAE.

School Leaders Conference at OA Enfield School Leaders Conference at OA Enfield

It has been an absolute privilege to host the School Leaders Conference on Wednesday at OA Enfield. Principals and Directors from across the country and Oasis community, came together, to learn from each other and develop their practice. They all shared wonderful feedback—praising our academy, the warmth and professionalism of our staff, and the exemplary conduct of our students.

In a poignant act of remembrance, our Principal, accompanied by two students, laid wreaths at the school cenotaph to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served in times of conflict.

The ceremony was marked by deep respect and reflection, as the entire school community paused for a solemn two-minute silence.

This moment allowed us to collectively remember the lives lost in war and to reaffirm our gratitude for the freedoms secured through their bravery.

Our second workshop focused on the concept of Ubuntu, a powerful African philosophy meaning “I am because we are.”

The session encouraged students to reflect on interconnectedness , with each other and with the planet.

Through interactive activities, students explored how individual actions impact the wider community and environment. Discussions highlighted themes of empathy, sustainability, and collective responsibility. Students shared ideas on how to live more harmoniously with nature and each other, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in tackling global challenges.

The workshop ended with students reflecting on the Ubuntu principle of shared humanity.

If any parent/carers or students have old trainers—adult or children's sizes—that are no longer needed, we in the PE department would be incredibly grateful to receive them. These donations will go directly to support students who do not have suitable footwear for PE lessons.

Whether it's a pair gathering dust at home or shoes your children have outgrown, every contribution helps ensure all students can participate safely and comfortably. Thank you, Ms Cotter, Head of PE

Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield

Our ethos is rooted in what we believe and who we are. Grounded in our story, it is an expression of our character; a set of values that inform and provide the lens on everything we do.

  • A passion to include
  • A desire to treat people equally respecting differences
  • A commitment to healthy, open relationships
  • A deep sense of hope that things can change and be transformed
  • A sense of perseverance to keep going for the long haul

It is these ethos values that we want to be known for and to live by. We are committed to a model of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope, and perseverance throughout all the aspects of the life and culture of every Oasis Hub and academy community.

We encourage every member of our family, be that staff or student, to align themselves to these ethos values. The values themselves are inspired by the life, message and example of Jesus but we make it clear that we will not impose on anyone, the beliefs that underpin our ethos values. We recognise and celebrate the richness that spiritual and cultural diversity brings to our community, respecting the beliefs and practices of other faiths in the hope that we will provide a welcoming environment for all.

9 Habits at Oasis Academy Enfield 9 Habits at Oasis Academy Enfield

To help us in this process of personal growth and development we have the Oasis 9 Habits. It is our bespoke and unique approach to character development. We know that by living the way of the Habits, the Oasis Ethos will become second nature to us.

#LookCloser Programme of Learning: October 25 – December 25  #LookCloser Programme of Learning: October 25 – December 25

We are pleased to share details of The Children’s Society’s upcoming #LookCloser Programme of Learning events for October 2025 – December 2025.

#LookCloser is a partnership campaign between The Children's Society, the National County Lines Co-ordination Centre and the British Transport Police aiming to raise awareness of child exploitation and abuse and to encourage the public and businesses to better identify and report concerns. The campaign also seeks to challenge assumptions and victim stereotypes, highlighting that child exploitation can happen anywhere, and any young person can be a victim.

You can book on to the sessions for free, by clicking on the session titles within this flyer.

Many thanks for your ongoing support and if you have any questions please contact Prevention@childrenssociety.org.uk
