The LMS Express
October 17, 2025
Hello all,
On behalf of all the teachers and staff of LMS, I'd like to thank all the students and their families that took some time to attend our Open House on Thursday. There was a great turnout and lots of smiling faces. We value these moments when families get to have a look around our school where incredible things happen everyday. It was plain to see that our students take a lot of pride in their school, their work, and in their relationships with each other and with the adults in the building. We had some alumni visit as well, which is of course always a treat!
Fall sports are wrapping up, basketball will be starting soon clubs & activities are in full swing, and things are good at LMS! We're looking forward to having our parent/guardian-teacher conferences in a couple of weeks. Please note that we'll be having an 11:30 dismissal on Thursday, October 30th, and there will be no school on Friday, October 31st.
Thanks for having a look at this edition of the LMS Express.
Be Well,
Tom

Mrs. Duford's WIN Class
Mrs. Duford´s fifth grade WIN class has been reading Kareem Between for our Global Read Aloud unit. Students completed a "mystery meet" where they had to ask, and answer, yes or no questions to another school in a participating location. After about 45 minutes and many difficult questions, students were able to identify our connecting school´s location, Balgonie, Canada. Students had a wonderful time connecting with another school and we look forward to connecting with them again!
NELMS Conference
A group of students attended the New England League of Middle Schools' Student Leadership Conference at Southern New Hampshire University this week. Picture Re-take Day is October 23rd
Retake day is for new students and staff members, transfer students, or for anyone who may have missed the initial picture day. Additionally, we welcome anyone who was unhappy with their original picture and would like to give it another try. Retake photos automatically replace original photos in school services and yearbook. If a student chooses to retake their photo, please have them return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. We will replace it at no additional cost.
If this is the first time being photographed, just have the student/staff go to the camera and we’ll create a proof for them that will be sent to the school (and/or to their family email if we have that information). These proofs will be delivered approx. 4 weeks after picture day. An order code will be on the proof along with ordering instructions.
Snow Day Test
The district will be testing its mass communication system on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the 4 p.m. hour. You should receive an email, phone call and text message from the Lebanon School District. You do not need to take any action, this is only a test to ensure our communications system is working properly ahead of winter. If you do not receive communication from the district during the test, please contact Director of Technology Tyler Schena at tschena@sau88.net or 603-790-8500.

LMS Cross Country News
The Leb middle school cross country team had another strong showing at the Woods Trail Cross Country Meet in Thetford VT, the biggest cross country meet in the Upper Valley.
Despite the tougher competition, the Girls team continued their special, undefeated season by taking 1st out of 31 teams. They were led by Jill Campbell and Brooke Nelson who took 1st and 2nd respectively. Top-25 finishes by Carolyn Campbell, Molly Swanson, Tori Pomeroy, and Melanie Martin helped secure the victory. Other top performers included Raeka Mikecz, Charlotte Roy, Lilah Nochumson, and Imogen Waraschinski.
Meanwhile, the Boys team turned in another impressive performance, placing 5th out of 27 teams. They were led by Ethan Trudeau, Aadhi Eedula, Peter Kourbatski, Daniel Achord, and Brandon Kay. In addition, Keegan Lander and Owen Grace also ran their best races of the season to date.
Congrats to both teams for running their best race of the season… so far.

Kids & Social Media: The Conversation Every Parent Needs
Screen Time & Growing Minds:
What the Science Tells Us
Series Kickoff Event with Dr. Bill Hudenko
Sunday, October 19 | 4 PM – 5 PM
Free | Registration Required
Join us at VINS Nature Center for an essential conversation about one of today’s most challenging parenting topics: social media, phone use, and creating healthy digital boundaries for our children.
Dr. Bill Hudenko will share the science behind how young brains respond to technology and provide evidence-based insights for creating healthy family boundaries.
This event is for all parents—whether your kids haven't entered the digital world yet or are already deep into smartphones and social media. No perfect parents required, just caring ones doing their best in our digital age.
What's Next? This launches an ongoing series of judgment-free discussions at VINS, where Upper Valley families can connect and learn together. After the event, you can sign up for future conversations organized by life stage (parents of teens, younger kids, etc.) running through fall and winter.
Ready to join other parents for real conversations about the challenges we all face?
