Early Reading Screener Notification - April AimswebPlus Literacy Screener

Dear Parent(s)/Caregiver(s),

We are approaching our spring early reading screener assessment window. In early April, each child in grades 4K-3 will be administered the aimswebPlus literacy screener. This is the third and final administration of this assessment for the school year for grades K-3 and second and final administration for our 4K students.

This screener will recheck the important literacy skills that your child will need to secure in order to be reading at or above grade level by the end of third grade.

You will receive your child’s test results within 10 days after they take the reading screener. The school will give you a report sharing your child’s score and how others score at the same grade level. This comparison is called a percentile rank.

If your child is in grades 5K-3 and scores are below the 25th percentile, you will be contacted about more testing and we will provide a personal reading plan to help your child meet grade-level goals. If your child already has a personal reading plan, you will receive updates after additional diagnostic testing.

No special preparation for aimswebPlus reading screener is needed. Just send your child to school as usual. The testing is quick and should not be a big event for your child.

If you ever have any questions about your child’s results or progress in their intervention plan, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or principal.

Sincerely,

Rachael Johnson, K-2 Principal

Katie Hauge, 3-5 Principal

Nicole Tepe, 4K Coordinator

Sarah Straka, Director of Instruction

Kindergarten Music Concert & Gallery Walk - Friday, April 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM

We are so excited for our upcoming Kindergarten Music Concert! The concert will take place Friday, April 11 starting at 2:00 PM at the Primary Center. Please note that our concert will take place in the Primary Center gymnasium.

Back by popular demand, we are excited to announce that in conjunction with the Kindergarten concert, we will be hosting a kindergarten art gallery walk! There will be a map printed on the back of your concert program that will guide your art gallery tour. After the concert, you may go pick up your child from their designated area and do the gallery walk together. With this event taking place near the end of our school day, we simply ask that you complete your gallery walk no later than 2:50 PM so that we can safely clear the hallways to get our students ready for dismissal.

We will be unlocking the north, south, and west Primary Center gymnasium doors starting at 1:30 PM on the day of the concert. Guests will not be permitted into the building before 1:30 PM. We are encouraging families to park on Academy St. and 2nd St. There will only be minimal parking available in the PC lot and down in the ELC lot.

In our gymnasium, we will have bleacher and chair seating. We ask that the chair seating be reserved for visitors with mobility limitations, parents with small children, and as overflow seating once the bleachers are full.

At the end of the concert, teachers will be taking their students to a designated area. Parents will be dismissed by class to check in with the classroom teacher and pick up their child and then complete the art gallery walk.

The children are very excited about performing for us, and sharing their artwork! Thank you for being a part of this event. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Vajda, Music Teacher, Ms. Godfrey, Art Teacher & Mrs. Johnson, Principal

From the Wait Until 8th website:

The Wait Until 8th pledge empowers parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade.

Why wait until 8th grade? There is a reason why top Silicon Valley executives are saying no to the smartphone until at least 14 for their children. In fact, there is a long list of reasons and parents need to know them."

How do you start the Wait Until 8th pledge in your community?

Where is the pledge already started?
