Community Corner - CHASEN Community Corner - CHASEN

Happy Holidays from your neighborhood friends! As we say farewell to another year your Neighborhood Area 7-8-9 would like to thank everyone who supports and attends our neighborhood monthly meetings. A special thanks to those who present and discuss many valued topics concerning our neighborhood area and the City of Citrus Heights. Plus, another big thanks for those who volunteered and contributed to our events and helped make our annual Christmas Giving Tree event a success. Won't you please consider joining us next year as we say hello in 2025 to new guest presenters and neighbors? If you'd like to help with a monetary donation towards our annual Christmas Giving Tree event, where we provide gifts for children of less fortunate local families, we are taking donations via cash, check, gift cards, or Venmo. Last year, we provided for 5 families (15 children) and each year we strive for more. We are a non-profit organization and can provide a tax-deductible receipt to you. Please reach out by sending checks payable to CHASEN, gift cards in C/O Bill Shirley, or Venmo to @CHASEN789 (4-digit code is 7970). Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from your CHASEN Board of Directors: Bill, Dave, Diane, Tina, Kat and Steve

Open Enrollment Information

Our open enrollment period begins on Monday, Dec. 9, at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24. During this time, you can submit an application to have your student attend a school other than their neighborhood school as long as space is available and you are willing to provide transportation for your student.

You can now log in to Parent Portal to view your child’s assigned school for the next school year to help you decide whether to participate in open enrollment. As soon as you log in to Parent Portal, you will see both your child’s school for this school year and their assigned school for the next school year (2025-26) listed just below. If you are satisfied with your child’s assigned school for the next school year, no further action is needed. If you would like to apply to make a change, you can complete an open enrollment lottery application starting Dec. 9.

Because open enrollment is a computer-generated lottery and not approved on a first-come, first-served basis, you can submit your application anytime during the open enrollment period.

Applications will be available online at www.sanjuan.edu/openenrollment and at the San Juan Central office at 3700 Garfield Ave. in Carmichael. For more information, call (916) SAN-JUAN or email oel@sanjuan.edu.

Woodside's Giving Tree: Adopt-A-Family

Our Giving Tree provides assistance to families in our Woodside community. This year we have a number of families we would like to support with gifts for the children and food for the family.

If you would like to participate in this worthwhile effort, you may come into the office and pick one or more STARS from the Giving Tree. Each star will have information about the child's age and a specific gift that the parent thought the child would like.

The gift listed on the star should be returned to the office by Tuesday, December 17th. The gifts should be wrapped, and the star should be placed on top.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and caring support of our community members!
