Early Childhood Grant Support
Conscious Discipline is a nationally recognized, evidence-based approach that supports social-emotional learning while helping educators create safe, engaging, and productive learning environments.
“Our faculty and staff have seen remarkable transformations in student learning through this specially designed program,” said Lauren O’Connor, principal of Frontier School of Innovation–Elementary. “This second round of funding from our friends at the Stanley H. Durwood Foundation will allow us to expand the program and deepen our understanding of how to use it most effectively with our students.”
Frontier Schools extends its sincere appreciation to the trustees of the Stanley H. Durwood Foundation and the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation for their continued generosity and support.
Professional Development:
Between July 30 and August 12, Frontier staff participated in an intensive professional development program designed to strengthen teaching practices and ultimately enhance student learning. The core purpose of professional development is to support teacher growth, which directly impacts student success.
Our district and campus professional development initiatives are guided by the following belief statements:
Improve and maintain job satisfaction for all employees
Promote shared accountability, collaboration, and leadership in working toward district goals
Recruit and retain high-quality educators who are committed to excellence
Ensure compliance with state professional development requirements
Increase knowledge and application of current best practices and research-based educational strategies
District-Wide Orientation Day Brings Families Together
On August 12, all Frontier campuses welcomed families and students for our annual District-Wide Orientation Day. The event provided a one-stop opportunity for families to get prepared for the new school year.
Students had the chance to pick up school uniforms, receive their class schedules, and collect their Chromebooks. They could also sign up for sports and connect with transportation staff about bus stops. In addition, a variety of resources were available to support families and ensure a smooth start to the school year.
Orientation Day was a great success, setting the stage for an exciting 2026–27 school year at Frontier Schools!
First Day of School Brings Smiles and Excitement
On August 13, we were thrilled to welcome students back for the first day of the 2026-27 school year. The halls were filled with smiles, hugs, and excitement as students reconnected with friends and teachers. From smooth transportation to seamless classroom transitions, everything came together to kick off what’s sure to be another successful school year.

School Bus Transportation Reminder
As we begin an exciting new school year, we’d like to remind families of some important information regarding school bus transportation.
Our bus drivers are ready to welcome students back and are committed to providing a safe and friendly ride each day. To help keep everything on schedule, please have your child at the bus stop at least 5 minutes early each morning, as buses are unable to wait for late arrivals.
Bus Safety Reminders
Student safety is our top priority. To maintain a safe and respectful ride, students are expected to:
Remain seated at all times
Keep aisles clear
Follow the driver’s instructions
We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations with your child so that all students can enjoy a safe and smooth ride to and from school.
Stay Connected with Stopfinder
Families can continue using the Stopfinder app to stay informed about their child’s transportation. Stopfinder provides parents with access to bus route details, real-time updates, and notifications about changes or delays—right from your phone. This tool helps reduce uncertainty and keeps families connected throughout the school year.
