No School Monday!
Dear BES Families,
We have jumped right in this year! I bet you and your kids were ready for this long weekend! It is normal to feel tired, cranky, and super busy when school starts back up. It isn't just school - practices are in full swing, evening activities are starting up, and everyone still wants time to play and chill! If your son or daughter needs assistance in getting on track, let us know! We love to be proactive in helping them find their groove! We offer before and after school assistance for homework or assignments. We can also help with friendships and forming healthy relationships with peers.
We are ready to GLOW CRAZY this Saturday night! I hope you can join us for the biggest party at Wildcat Stadium. Please, bring the whole family and even your neighbors! Don't forget to gather up those donations - all the money raised goes towards our field trips, parties, incentives and prizes throughout the year, and more!
Volunteer Training will begin this month! Look below for dates you can come. It is a very simple process and it you can do the training at either RES or BES. We require this for anyone who may be supervising our students. This applies to such times as helping in classrooms, helping at the book fair, or field trips. We offer them before or after school and they typically take no more than 15 minutes. Please make time now before field trip season to get this done and you'll be covered!
Hope to see you at the parade!
Cindy Apple, Principal

Mindset Minute
This week we begin discussing the mindset, EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. This mindset gets us dreaming big, thinking about what we hope to accomplish, what we want to learn or get better at and what we want to become. Being able to envision these things in our future enables us to think about how we get there and then make choices each day that point us in the direction of our dreams. We will have conversations about dreaming big, embracing creativity, thinking positive and learning to act & adjust.
Blessings In A Backpack Sign-Up
Louisburg USD 416 participates in a local Blessings in a Backpack program. The program is designed to provide non-perishable food every Friday to children that would benefit from supplemental nourishment over the weekend. The program runs throughout the school year and there is no cost to participate.
Please complete the following form for EACH student that you would like to participate. Distribution will begin the week following Labor Day in a discreet & caring manner.
Pedestrian Crosswalk at 68 Highway and Aquatic Drive
As you have probably seen, there is a new pedestrian crosswalk and beacon being installed at 68 Highway and Aquatic Drive. It will be a similar beacon and crosswalk that is in place on South Metcalf, by Ron Weers Park. There have been some installation delays so it will not be installed when school begins. We will have a school staff member out at the crosswalk and the city is working on some temporary signage. The hope is to have the crosswalk fully functional by the end of August.
We urge extreme caution at this crosswalk until it is fully functional.

Attendance and School Calendars
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
