MAY STUDENT OF THE MONTH MAY STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Congratulations Ranah Rylah on being voted May Turk of the Month!

Ranah is obviously a terrific student (one of our 4 school valedictorians) but she is also a great TA/peer tutor, was more than willing to help with preparing testing treats and delivery, and does a great job with other students in CHAMPS class. She goes above and beyond and has shown great ownership and accountability in what she is tasked to do. She always produces excellent quality of work on top of all the other fantastic things she does.

Thank you for being a fantastic Turk!

MAY STAFF OF THE MONTH MAY STAFF OF THE MONTH

Congratulations Mr. Sam Grady on being voted May Staff of the Month.

Mr. Grady's classes have always been chill, and we enjoy the way he teaches graphic novels.

He helps us when we have problems.

He is kind, funny and helpful and genuinely connects with his students.

He is the GOAT!

Thanks for being a great TURK!

Class of 2025: Congratulations on graduating! We are so proud of all you’ve accomplished, and excited for the future that lies ahead.

Class of 2026: Juniors, as you’re heading into summer break, here are some tips for preparing for your senior year:

1. Start Your College or Career Planning

· Make a list of colleges, training programs, or careers you're interested in.

· Visit college campuses (in person or virtually).

· Start drafting a college resume or portfolio.

· Research application deadlines and requirements (especially for early action or scholarships).https://scholarships360.org/college-admissions/junior-summer-checklist/

2. Work on Personal Statements or Essays

If you're planning to apply to college, start drafting your personal statement. It's way less stressful to do it now than during the school year when you're busy with classes.

3. Get a Job, Internship, or Volunteer

Working or volunteering shows initiative, builds experience, and can help you explore your interests. It also looks great on applications.

4. Take Care of Yourself

Get enough rest, eat well, stay active, and prioritize your mental health. A healthy mindset now will help you handle the challenges of senior year.

5. Have Fun

This is your last summer before senior year — enjoy it! Make memories, spend time with people who matter, and celebrate how far you’ve come.

Applying to College 101 Course from Penn: Free course created by Penn for students in their Junior Year to learn about how to apply to college (any college) for next year. This is at the student’s own pace and completely optional as this is not a Sultan School District Sponsored program. This might be a good course for your Junior to work on this summer. It comes with a workbook too! While this is focused on Juniors, there is plenty of information that 9th and 10th grade students would benefit from. APPLYING TO COLLEGE COURSE LINK

Summer College and Program Tours: Students from all grades can set up college or program tours. The summer is the perfect time to do this. Tours help students get motivated and learn about what it takes to get to those schools. To set up a tour check out the link to our Set Up College Tours document under the Washington Colleges Section of our page - Counseling Center | Sultan High School. Additionally, here is a sample worksheet to take with you to determine if that is where you want to go after high school - BigFuture_College_Search_Worksheet.pdf

Schedules: Student schedules for 25-26 will be released online via Powerschool at least 1 week before school starts. Students will receive their paper schedules on the first day of school.
