Course Registration is upon us

Course Registration for the 2022-23 school year will begin in science classes on December 16. Students and families can access all relevant materials by hovering over the student section of the Pikesville High School website and clicking course registration information. There is even a page for frequently asked questions and to pose questions that are not already answered.

After a career lesson in science classes, students will be asked to use the grade-specific worksheets to make their requests, and then enter them in Focus, before having their parents and guardians review their requests and sign the form.

Then in January, all students will meet with school counselors to review their requests in Focus. After meeting with the school counselor, the students will be able to view, but not edit, their requests. If a student wishes to make a change before the end of the school year, they should message their school counselor. No elective changes will be made after the school year ends.

Donations sought

Our student celebrations committee is seeking donations!

Whether you can donate small gift cards ($5-$50) for students who earn honor roll, or you are affiliated with an organization that would be willing to sponsor a scholarship ($300+) for a Pikesville senior, please get in touch with Mr. Goldman at jgoldman@bcps.org. Thank you!

Monitor Naviance for scholarships

After submitting college applications, requesting transcripts and letters of recommendation, and completing the FAFSA, students are encouraged to apply for scholarships.

BCPS's office of school counseling keeps an updated list of regional or national scholarship opportunities in Naviance. Go to the colleges section, and click on "scholarship list." Keep your own list of scholarships from that main list that seem appropriate for you, so you can cross them off once you've applied.

Just as with college applications, if you need something from a counselor or teacher for a scholarship application, please make that request at least two weeks in advance of the deadline.

Central Scholarship Bureau

Central Scholarship Bureau is a locally-run nonprofit that manages scholarship applications for many regional programs.

https://central-scholarship.org/

Using this website, seniors can apply to a range of scholarships for students from Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

One scholarship that arrived at our inbox is the Jewish Community Services scholarship, for a Jewish senior who EITHER has a learning disability OR lives in a single parent home. Deadline for the JCS scholarship is March 15.

There are many more that you can apply to with one single application, at https://central-scholarship.org/
