A Note from Mrs. Mathe

Last week, we celebrated our Huskies who were recognized with the HERO Award for Trustworthiness and for simply being incredible Husky HEROES! 🎉 Congratulations to all of you, and thank you for making Hines such a special place to be!

Today, a few of our classes said goodbye to their Grand Oaks High School student teachers. Through our partnership with GOHS, we’ve had the honor of hosting seniors who are aspiring educators, giving them a chance to gain real classroom experience. Over the course of the school year, our Huskies have grown to love their “second” teachers — and the feeling has been mutual. There were lots of tears today as they said their goodbyes, which speaks volumes about the impact of this experience.

This is what makes education so powerful: it’s more than a job — it’s a calling. In just one year, these student teachers made lasting connections that have left a mark on both them and our students.

To our GOHS seniors: thank you for pouring your hearts into our classrooms. We wish you all the best as you graduate and take your next steps toward becoming the amazing educators you’re destined to be!

If you’d like to recognize a staff member, you can do so through your parent SSO by submitting a TAE. Any staff member is eligible for this recognition. When a TAE is submitted, both the administration and the staff member are notified, and the joy it brings to their faces is priceless. To submit a TAE:

  1. Log in to your Parent Access SSO portal.
  2. Click on Parent Access Center
  3. Click communication.
  4. Choose Staff/Teacher excellence from the drop down menu.
  5. Select the employee to receive recognition from the drop down menu.
  6. Click create TAE.
  7. Click any of the pre-populated choices that apply.
  8. Type any additional comments in the Additional Comment box.
  9. Click the box labeled Create Teachers Achieving Excellence button.
  10. Done!

Hines Website Has a New Look!

Conroe ISD is updating its notification systems and websites! Over the next few weeks, you’ll see a new Hines website and may notice that our emails, texts, and social media posts come from a new platform. These improvements will help streamline communication, keep you informed about campus events, and provide more options for important call-outs.

Additionally, in the coming weeks, you will receive information about our new mass communication system called Alerts. Be on the lookout for texts from 98900 when the new system is implemented. Emails and texts may have a slightly different look, but they’ll still contain all the great information we share. These transitions are part of a bigger initiative to bring efficiency to the District’s communication platforms, and there are more exciting updates to come!

As a part of this roll out Conroe ISD has launched a new app that allows parents to receive push notifications directly from their child’s school. I encourage you to download the app to stay connected!

Transportation Change App Pilot

Exciting News!

We are currently piloting a new Transportation Change App available through your child's SSO to make notifying the school of transportation changes easier and more efficient for families.

As a reminder, all transportation changes must be submitted before 2:00 PM each day. This ensures our teachers and staff have plenty of time to communicate changes to students before dismissal.

For the remainder of this school year, as we pilot this new system, please note:
For this year while we are piloting, if you do not receive a confirmation from the front office team that your transportation change has been received, we kindly ask that you call the front office before 2:30 PM to verify it was submitted successfully.

Please also note that this process is for same-day transportation changes only. If you need to request a permanent change to your child’s transportation, please continue to email us at contacthines@conroeisd.net.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to make dismissal safe, smooth, and efficient for everyone!

Counselor's Corner Counselor's Corner

Our latest classroom counseling lessons have been filled with fun and learning. Thank you for the privilege of working with your student. Here are the topics we have been discussing in class.

In Kindergarten, we read the book Harrison P. Spader Personal Space Invader by Christianne Jones. We discussed the importance of respecting boundaries, giving personal space, and being self-aware. We modeled what personal space looks like and practiced Harrison's Space Saver rhyme: Arms out front, then out real wide. Now place your arms back by your sides. This proved to be a great reminder to finish the year out strong!

In First and Second Grade, we reviewed small problems vs BIG problems and learned the last set of Kelso's Choices. We had the chance to put these choices into practice through role play and discussion. All Kindergarten through Second Grade students now have access to Kelso's entire wheel of choices to handle any small problem!

  1. Go to another game

  2. Talk it out

  3. Share and take turns

  4. Ignore it

  5. Walk away

  6. Tell them to stop

  7. Apologize

  8. Make a deal

  9. Wait and cool off

Remember Kelso says an apology must be sincere, and the other person must be willing to forgive. Sometimes, you might have to wait a day or two for things to cool down. We have two parts to an apology.

SAY something: Tell them what you are sorry for

DO something: Take action or stop an action to fix the problem

Home Access Center (HAC) will go live on January 21 and will operate alongside the Parent Access Center (PAC) until at least Spring Break. During this transition, parents will have access to both applications. PAC will be decommissioned after Spring Break. As HAC launches, PAC will display a notification informing users that HAC is now online and that student information in HAC updates in real time.
