Principal's Update
SES Community ,
It has been beautiful looking at the colorful fall foliage this week as I drive through the neighboring towns to get to Shoreham. Students have also been enjoying the foliage by running / jumping through the leaves at recess.
Next week , we have Parent Teacher Conferences as well as a Community Meeting with Shoreham's Selected Board Members on Thursday, October 23rd from 7-8:30 at the Platt Library to discuss the future plans for Shoreham Elementary . I hope to see you there!
Lastly, we are all looking forward to our annual Trunk or Treating event on October 31st at 5pm.

School Counselor
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to inform you that Shoreham Elementary school will be participating in Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign held each year to promote drug awareness and prevention. This year, Red Ribbon Week will take place from 10/27-10/31.
What is Red Ribbon Week?
Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention campaign. It began in 1985 in honor of DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who gave his life in the fight against illegal drugs. Since then, millions of students, families, and communities have joined together each October to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and to promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles.
Why It Matters
By participating in Red Ribbon Week, we aim to:
Encourage students to make positive choices
Promote awareness about the risks of substance use
Empower young people to live drug-free lives
Involve families and the community in prevention efforts
What to Expect at SES
Throughout the week, students will engage in fun, educational activities that support this year’s theme: Life Is A Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free. We’ll also have themed dress-up days with our spirit week, classroom discussions, and other age-appropriate activities to help reinforce the message.
We encourage you to talk with your child about the importance of living a healthy, drug-free life and join us in supporting this important cause.
Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Amber Bragg

District Update
School Attendance & Unexcused Absence Protocol:
Thank you for working with us during the first month of school to help your children build strong attendance routines. As a reminder, if your child has a planned absence for more than three days, you need to request the superintendent’s permission for that absence to be excused. Absences are generally considered excused only if a student is sick or their absence is approved by the Superintendent as an educational opportunity.
Our attendance protocol is based on the new Agency of Education guidance. We know these new rules may take some getting used to, and we appreciate your support as we work through them together. Please view the full protocol here and reach out to your principal or the superintendent’s office with any questions.
