Holiday Card Contest
For more than 25 years, the Walpole elementary schools have partnered with Dedham Savings Bank and participated in their Holiday Card Contest. If students would like to participate in the contest, we are asking that this take place at home and possibly at indoor recess (if applicable).
Here are the details:
All cards should be on 8.5 by 11 inch white paper which will be provided at school.
On the back of the card, please put the student's name, school, and grade.
The cards need to be returned to school by Thursday, December 12th
Below are the generous prizes for each grade(district-wide) donated by the Dedham Savings Bank:
1st Prize $100
2nd Prize $50
3rd Prize $25
Colder Weather
The cold winter weather is approaching and this is a friendly reminder to have all students wear the appropriate outdoor winter clothing. As long as the temperatures allow, we will continue to have students go outside for recess. It is extremely important for students to wear boots, hats, mittens/gloves, and winter coats on cold winter days.
News from the Nurse
We continue to see cases of pneumonia within our OPR community. Please take a look at the symptoms of Walking Pneumonia. Contact your pediatrician with any of these symptoms:
a fever of 101°F (38.5°C) or below
a cough
fatigue (feeling very tired)
headache, chills, sore throat, and other cold or flu-like symptom
ear pain
chest pain or stomach pain
malaise (feeling of discomfort)
vomiting
loss of appetite (in older kids) or poor feeding (in infants)
RASH
joint pain
Antibiotics are an effective treatment for walking pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae. A 5- to 10-day course of oral antibiotics is usually recommended. After starting on antibiotics, your child is less likely to pass the illness to other family members and classmates.
Thank you so much! Have a healthy and happy weekend!
