Issue #11
Hello Golden Bear Families,
As we close out the last week of October, I think we can all agree it has been a LONG month! I know our students have been juggling a lot, both inside and outside of school, and sometimes the demands of high school can feel overwhelming. We have seen some of those challenges reflected in student behavior and decision-making. In particular, we have had an increase in incidents involving alcohol, nicotine products, and marijuana vapes. We have also seen concerns related to how students interact with one another, including cyberbullying through offensive messages, comments, and pictures shared on social media. While social media activity may happen outside of school, when it impacts a student's ability to attend school, feel safe, or fully participate in the school environment, it becomes a concern we must address together.
I want to remind our students that they do not have to navigate the pressures and challenges of high school on their own. Turning to substances is not the answer, and using social media to target, embarrass, or intimidate others is never acceptable. These behaviors often create even greater challenges for everyone involved.
We are fortunate to have an amazing counseling team, a social-emotional counselor, and a PBIS program designed to support our students both inside and outside the classroom. Please encourage your students to reach out, and know that we welcome the opportunity to partner with families. Sometimes a conversation, a little extra support, or connecting a student with the right resource can make all the difference. Our goal is to ensure every student has the support they need to make positive choices and fully participate in their learning environment.
If your student is struggling or you are noticing changes in their behavior, please don't wait until things become overwhelming to reach out. A great first step is to contact your student's counselor, who can help connect them with the appropriate support and resources. Students can also speak directly with their counselor, our social-emotional counselor, or an administrator. We are here to listen, help identify what a student may need, and work alongside families to determine the best next steps. We want our students to know that asking for help is a sign of strength, and there are caring adults on campus ready to support them.
We also have a responsibility to maintain a safe, respectful, and healthy campus. Incidents involving alcohol, nicotine, and marijuana products, as well as bullying and cyberbullying that impact our school environment, may result in disciplinary consequences. Depending on the circumstances, these may include loss of participation in athletic and extracurricular activities, field trips, dances, senior activities, and other school events, as well as the loss of 5-Star privileges. We want our students to make choices that allow them to take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities available to them as Golden Bears while recognizing the importance of treating one another with kindness and respect.
Even during a long month, there has been so much happening on our campus that reminds me of what makes Temecula Valley High School such a special place. Our students continue to give us plenty of reasons to celebrate! Our Golden Bear Theatre wrapped up an absolutely incredible run of Trap. Three nights simply were not enough! The production was so well received that many members of our community came back for multiple performances. What a testament to the talent, hard work, and dedication of our drama students and staff! We also enjoyed two wonderful performances from our Band and Choir programs. Both evenings showcased the incredible artistry and musical talent of our students, and the audiences were truly delighted. We are so proud of the opportunities our performing arts programs provide for students to share their gifts with our community.
On the athletic front, our Varsity Football team wrapped up an outstanding regular season with an impressive 9-1 record! We are excited to see our Golden Bears move on to the playoffs. We also took time to recognize our seniors at the final home game, culminating in the traditional senior march across the field. It was a special moment to celebrate these seniors and their contributions to our program.
Friday brought even more excitement as our campus came alive for our annual Trunk or Treat! A huge thank you to our ASB team and Senior Class for putting together such a fun event. Our entire student body, along with our staff, got into the spirit by dressing up in costumes and making their way through the senior parking lot for trick-or-treating. It was wonderful to see so many students participating, laughing, and enjoying time together. This is always a favorite Golden Bear tradition, and our students had a fantastic time!
As we head into November, I hope we can continue to build on the many positives happening across our campus while also working together to support our students through the challenges they may be facing. Thank you to our parents for your continued partnership and to our staff for the countless ways you show up for students each day. We want every Golden Bear to feel connected, supported, and successful, and that happens when we work together.
Have a wonderful weekend, and as always, GO BEARS! 🐻💛

Cultural Traditions
Our TVHS MEChA students have been working hard to create a beautiful ofrenda in honor of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican tradition that celebrates and remembers loved ones who have passed away. Ofrendas are created as a special place to honor their memories and share offerings of their favorite foods, drinks, and other meaningful items. Día de los Muertos is traditionally celebrated in Mexico on November 1 and 2. We invite you to take a moment to appreciate the students’ thoughtful work and learn more about this meaningful tradition. The ofrenda is on display in the shadow box in the 1200 building. A special thank you to our MEChA students for sharing this beautiful tradition with our Golden Bear Family!

CELL PHONE POLICY
Thank you to our Golden Bears for your continued cooperation with our cell phone policy and for placing your phones in the classroom phone corrals each period, including Advisement. We appreciate your partnership in helping us make the most of every instructional minute and maintain a classroom environment where students can focus, engage, and learn without the distractions of cell phones.
We know it takes all of us working together to build positive habits and keep learning at the center of everything we do. Thank you to our students and families for your support as we continue to reinforce this important expectation.
Please review the consequences listed below for students who do not follow the phone corral policy. We appreciate your continued support in helping our Golden Bears make the most of their learning opportunities each day. Go Bears!
