Preparedness in Action Day - A Message to Our Families Preparedness in Action Day - A Message to Our Families

Dear Central Crossing Families,

South Western City Schools will be participating in a districtwide Preparedness in Action Day on

Friday, September 12, 2025. This event at each school is aligned with National Preparedness

Month, a time each September when schools, families, and communities across the country

focus on building awareness and readiness for unexpected events. Specifically, students will be

having tabletop discussions on an age appropriate basis about recognizing and processing a

variety of possible safety scenarios and how to stay safe.

The goal of this day is for students to understand the importance of being prepared for a

number of scenarios (fire, tornado, etc.) and to learn safe building responses to different

emergency situations. As we know, practice makes perfect - especially in setting good habits

and learning the procedures to start the school year.

As always, we want to thank our local law enforcement officers, fire departments, and first

responders for their ongoing partnership and support in helping us carry out these important

preparedness activities. Their collaboration ensures that our schools remain safe learning

environments for every student.

Thank you in advance for your support in making Preparedness in Action Day a meaningful

experience for our students. Together, we are building the skills and awareness needed to

respond calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency.

Sincerely,

Steve Fairs

Principal
