Dear Parents and Guardians,

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your incredible partnership in your child's educational journey. It's often said that a child's success is a team effort, and we truly believe that the collaboration between home and school is the cornerstone of a strong and successful learning experience. Your involvement, support, and dedication make a world of difference, and we are so thankful for the trust you place in us every day! We know that a child's education extends beyond the classroom walls, and your active role is invaluable. Your engagement helps to build a strong foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

Tips for Supporting Your Child's Learning at Home

We understand that you may be looking for ways to get more involved. Here are a few simple tips that can make a big impact on your child's school life:

  • Talk about their day. Ask open-ended questions like, "What was the most interesting thing you learned today?" or "What was something you found challenging?" This helps them process their school day and lets them know you care about their experiences.

  • Create a routine. Establishing a consistent time for homework, reading, and bedtime can help your child develop good habits and feel more prepared for the school day.

  • Encourage reading. Reading together, or encouraging your child to read on their own, is one of the most powerful things you can do. It expands vocabulary, improves comprehension, and sparks imagination.

  • Stay in touch. We're here to work with you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher with any questions or concerns. The earlier we can address an issue together, the better the outcome for your child.

Thank you again for everything you do. We look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership throughout the school year.

Morning Car Drop Off Morning Car Drop Off

Our car line has been moving much faster this week. I know many of you have to drop off at multiple schools. I want our car line to move as fast and safely as possible. As a reminder, all cars should be waiting in the car line to turn RIGHT into the teacher parking lot. The only cars that are allowed to turn LEFT into the teacher parking lot are BES staff. This is to ensure they are on time to supervise our children.

Here are a few ways that you can help speed up our car line...

  1. Have your child ready to get out of the car as soon as your car stops in front of the school.
  2. Pull all the way to the purple cone. Do not stop in front of our entrance door.
  3. As soon as your car is in front of the school, let your child out. We will have staff there to be sure everyone is safe (See attached picture).
  4. We are able to safely drop off 10 cars at a time, if everyone follows the above instructions.

***Lastly, please do not pass other cars! I have witnessed several impatient drivers pull around the car line almost causing a wreck.

Attendance Reminders Attendance Reminders

Tardy - To be considered on time, the child must be sitting in their classroom at 7:45am. At 7:45am, our front door locks. The parent/guardian/driver will be expected to park their car and sign their child in at this point. Officer Hodges, our School Resource Officer, will be there to remind whoever is dropping off your child. Our instruction begins at 7:45am, so being late for school results in loss of instruction.

Early Dismissal - Students will not be allowed to be dismissed between 2:00-2:30pm for Early Dismissal. Please plan to pick your child up before then, if you have a doctor's appointment. Repeated Early Dismissals could result in an Attendance Plan.

Absences - It is imperative that your child is at school. We have a new system, and will be monitoring attendance very closely. You are allowed to turn in up to 5 Parent Notes to cover an unexcused absence. An example of a Parent Note would be a low grade fever, throwing up, etc. If you take your child to the doctor, please be sure to turn in the medical note. A student is considered truant with 3 consecutive absences or 5 unlawful absences. At this point, an Attendance Meeting will be scheduled with the Parent/Guardian and administration to create an Attendance Plan. Continued truancy will result in turning the plan over to the Anderson County Board.
