🏫 Don't Stop Believin': AISD Holds Ribbon Cutting for Gibson Middle School 🏫 Don't Stop Believin': AISD Holds Ribbon Cutting for Gibson Middle School

There was perhaps no more fitting song to fill the gymnasium of Scott Gibson Middle School on Wednesday night.

As the opening notes of “Don’t Stop Believin’” rang through the gym from the GMS band and choir, more than 500 guests celebrated the opening and dedication of Argyle ISD’s second middle school.

The ribbon-cutting and dedication of Scott Gibson Middle School on Sept. 2 were a celebration of a new chapter for Argyle ISD and a tribute to a leader who impacted so many.

CLICK HERE to view photos from the event!

Gibson served as principal of Argyle Middle School from 2009 until his passing in 2024. Throughout his career, he was a champion for students, a mentor to educators and a leader who challenged those around him to believe in themselves and in what they could accomplish.

And perhaps most fittingly, he helped plan the very campus that would one day bear his name. Gibson was involved in the early planning and vision for the new middle school. He helped imagine a place where students could learn, grow and discover their potential.

The gym was a fitting backdrop. Painted across the gymnasium wall were the words that had become synonymous with Gibson’s message to teachers, staff and students: “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

His favorite song was featured when the Gibson Middle School band and choir performed the Journey classic in tribute to their namesake. They performed the hit one more time as Jodie Gibson cut the ribbon for Scott Gibson Middle School!

August has been an exciting start to what promises to be a significant year for Argyle ISD. Across our district, students are back in classrooms, new spaces are coming to life, and years of planning for our continued growth are becoming a reality.

This school year is about more than opening new facilities. It is about preparing well for what comes next while staying focused on what matters most right now. As we begin the transition toward two high schools, navigate new state requirements, and continue refining how we serve students, we are also being intentional about the experiences we want for every student in every classroom, every day.

There is a lot happening in Argyle ISD, but our measure of success remains simple: Are our students known, challenged, supported, and given every opportunity to grow and achieve?

That focus will continue to guide our decisions throughout this important year.
